Rude, unprofessional. They accidentally gave me chicken toast instead of the vegetarian one ordered. Im physically ill now from eating chicken which Im allergic too. I expected an apology, a refund, and a future credit since now I don't have lunch nor time to go back- which is what the manager suggested I do. The girl who answered & the manager were unapologetic, dismissive, and sarcastic- she mocked me and said she couldn't ship me a sandwich...her excuse is that I was rude (which I was when they had 0% empathy or care for the mistake). I own a business; if we mess up we express care for our customer and understand if they are upset. These people dont care and have no customer centric service and hope the owner knows that and hires better. Theres qualified people who can manage staff schedules and inventory AND also give two shits about service. Theres too many coffee shops that treat every customer as someone they value- then to support another snobby low-bar service place in Portland. Hope you read this and consider supporting another shop that actually values...
Read moreThe coffee here is delicious. The prices are mid average for high end espresso, except a shot is a little spendy ($3 as of this review). I really enjoyed both of the espressos they had on roast, one in a latte with their house-made alternative milk (almond-cashew, nice flavor, good body), and the other straight (which came with its own chaser - see photos).
Upper Left has a clean, modern, but still warm and welcoming interior. There's a lot of space, and you can sort of spread out a little. There are some outlets on the walls, but not a ton. If you like bikes and people watching, there's a good amount of intersection traffic here to observe while you might daydream staring out the huge front windows.
Also of note is that I got greeted while just perusing, shortly after I walked in. They seem pretty nice here. I also asked questions about the roasts, and I didn't get looked at like an idiot or "why are you asking me that?". I'm not a coffee expert, but it can be intimidating at some of the shops to ask about...
Read moreExactly the coffee shop vibes I’ve been missing and looking for in Portland. There’s ample outdoor seating and they’ve even opened up their indoor space for those with proof of vaccination. Plenty of tables and a bar along the wall with comfortable chairs. It’s the little things here that give me hope for a return to normalcy at your local café: real plates and cups if you’re dining in, open restrooms, WiFi, a tap for water refills at the bar. They’re following all CDC guidelines and still providing the coffee shop atmosphere which is hugely appreciated.
Food and drink is the best I’ve had in town too! I got the yogurt and granola with their house-made nut butter and seasonal fruit and it was absolutely incredible. My latte was amazing as well, and the staff dealt with the Sunday morning crush like seasoned pros. To say the least, I was highly impressed with my entire experience and will be back for certain whenever I’m...
