I recently moved within walking distance. The first time I went in they were friendly and the pastries was amazing. I took my partner back there for lunch and the food was so good. So I decided to go back for my birthday. I told them their food was so good. I wanted to spend my birthday at their business. No happy birthday instead I was asked to write a google review. Had either said happy birthday they would have gotten 5 stars all around. I own a business and would have said happy birthday to a customer who had a birthday that day, not them for an asked for a review. Birthdays are that person special day & if they choose to spend their money on your business a business ought to be kind enough to acknowledge the person, not make it all about their business. I took my mom there because of past experiences. I later that day went to several other places & all the other places said happy birthday to me. Some even asked me what are you going to be doing for your special day? So if google reviews are so important to this business I will take the time to share mine. Every other experience walking in to buy or sitting down to eat was a 100%, 5 star review until my birthday, in other words don’t go here for special occasions only every day life events. You won’t feel special on your special day, go to other business to feel special for your special events. The food here is amazing. They are friendly & welcoming when you walk in. Service is good too. Food wise it is one of the best places for breakfast...
Read moreMan, what a gem this place is! I am a little angry at myself its taken me so long to eat here. The inside space is homey but not claustrophobic and there is ample seating on a cute patio outside. They also offer take out. Very clean and the vibe is super inviting. Cant speak to the bathroom as I didnt use it. You enter next to a pastry display which is very exciting, and you may purchase said pastries to also take home. (I purchased a small strawberry rhubarb pie I cannot WAIT to dig into.) The price point for the amount and quality was excellent. The cinnamon roll french toast was just beyond decadent. The eggs were fluffy, and the biscuits and gravy were unreal. The creamy potatoes rocked my world, but its hard to combine fat and potatoes and have me not like it. Everything was perfectly cooked and there is a quite extensive menu to choose from, including a specials menu. They also have baileys for your coffee and a small bar offering. The service was a bit slow, but I was happy to take the time and was in zero rush. Just something to consider if youre really time crunched, but again if that is the case take away is available. I rarely eat breakfast, but this is hands down the best breakfast Ive had in Pdx and will without a...
Read moreI didn’t expect this place to be so good! Everything is amazing.
Update: I have not properly explained how PHENOMENAL this cafe is. I am coming back years after my original review to say that I’ve gone back dozens of times, and I’ve never been anything but delighted by the amazing food and wonderful staff. Not only is their chicken fried steak and creamy potatoes something that I crave on a weekly basis, but their baked goods are out of this world! Everyone I’ve taken to Mehri’s has fallen in love with the unique food. The bread is homemade, as are the preserves and all their amazing pies and other pastries. It’s a little hole in the wall place that can not be missed. If this place ever closes, I honestly might shed a tear or two.
(And for the record, the first time I went was in December years ago and they had a Christmas tree with gifts under it that I didn’t even pay attention to until I left when I saw that the gifts were all for an animal shelter. There were bags of food, tennis balls, toys, dog sweaters… so if you didn’t already want to support this place before, you should now. Anyone who cares that much about animals they don’t even know has earned their place in heaven as far as...
