Hidden East Tavern — Restaurant in Portland

This is the worst bar. If you don’t live within a few blocks, don’t go here regularly, or are under 30- they’ll be rude, refuse you service, or “threaten” to call cops. Literally, me and my friends who went are all in our mid 20s, and we have the old Oregon IDs (which are still valid, but don’t look fancy), and we got refused service, and the bartender sent her friend to threaten us to get out. We weren’t loud, distracting, or obnoxious. Just a few legal adults wanting to try out our local bar quietly & peacefully. I was DD for the night, and ordered a soda, and still got kicked out. Please note- we live in the area. We ARE locals- we’re just a couple decades younger than the average customer. Very cult-ish and exclusive here, and not in a good way...

There wouldn't even be a single star if based on management. The health department was here today and they passed. Crazy thing is the inspector must be absolutely crazy. What I want everyone to know is since their ice maker has been down, they bring ice in a garbage bag. Then they put that garbage bag in the ice tank. The bag is dirty, the back of their car is dirty... this is the ice in your drink! From an operational perspective disgusting. This includes most importantly how they handle staffing. The employees care and are treated like 3rd world citizens. The owners here disgust me because of these things. That being said, the best people join here because it is...

if I could give this place a negative 5 stars i would. The bartender spent almost an hour and a half total on break and when she was behind the bar (all of about 10 minutes) she not once asked if we would like a drink. Very rude atmosphere dirty no one was masked up very cluttered would not return nor would I recommend this place. I was a bartender and have worked in the service industry for a very long time and there is a certain standard you should always keep even if the customer is not one of your regulars. when you see a new customer come in at least acknowledge them especially since it wasn't busy.
