Melilli Cafe & Grill — Restaurant in Portland

My first experience with this establishment was a week ago, my coworkers and I ordered grinders for lunch. It was a FANTASTIC experience, Everyone Loved their meals. I had the beef parm grinder 😋 So, Yesterday my wife and I went there for a breakfast sandwich and home fries , Both were AMAZING !!!! Well worth the trip from Moodus !!! We ended up buying a loaf of INCREDIBLE Bread which was unbelievably Low priced @ $2.50 👏🏻 Also bought a slice of Fresh made pizza just Outta the Oven At 9:30 am WOW ! I just had that and some bread for lunch. 2 for 2 ! Way to Go , So..... Why not make my day by also getting dinner there ? Ok, so we order a Very affordable Calzone which looked GREAT, and fries. Here’s where Everything took a turn for the worse. The fries were in a styrofoam container, ALWAYS A BAD IDEA if you like Crunchy fries 😕 and when we got back to Moodus 20 minutes away, we divided up the calzone, which Again looked Amazing, but when we opened up what was supposed to be their awesome sauce, all there was, was a Meat ball, NO SAUCE AT ALL ! Well, I can’t review the calzone, because I wasn’t gonna eat it with PREGO ! This REALLY KILLED MY ENTHUSIASM for this place...

We order pizza for dinner frequently on a Saturday evening. We order the same thing every time. When I stopped in to pick up our dinner, the pepperoni was missing from the pizza. The waitress (who did not take the phone order) informed me I didn't order pepperoni, just bacon. The waitress who took my order read it back to me and pepperoni was repeated back to me. The waitress at the counter handed me the receipt for a signature and told me they would "fix it". I asked her if they were going to add pepperoni to an already cooked pizza and was told I'd get a fresh pie, it wouldn't take long. Well...that part was true! When I got home the pepperoni was not cut with the pie. it didn't even ooze with cheese. You guessed it!, they added the pepperoni and took their time so it seemed like I was getting a fresh pie! When my husband called and complained he said he was through with the restaurant lying to us. The waitress called us back during our dinner and tried to make it right....sounds like an admission of guilt .... but we'll visit the pizza house across the street. They always get our order right and they are super...

Their food is excellent. But two times in a row, which turned out to be two days in a row, when we ordered at our job, they didn't put in the salad dressing. I know businesses can get very busy, and deliveries can be overwhelming, but a double-check system before things go out the door by looking at the receipt, can be done. So the 1st day, one salad came w/out blue cheese salad dressing. And Melilli's salads are INCREDIBLE but we were hesitant to order from them a 2nd day. But we did and when we ordered, we asked them to double check the order because yesterday's came with no salad dressing. When the food came the 2nd time/day, the blue cheese came BUT there was no salad dressing for another salad! Now some would say don't put a bad review out on the internet, call them instead because it can hurt the business and I know that. But we did call and explain and it still happened.
