Updating my review 2 years later: This place is still the worst. I was dragged there with friends and my review below still very much applies amd the food was shameful. I wish this place cared about quality in service, decor and food. They don't.

Ugh. Migration Brewing is the Spirit Airlines of Portland breweries -- no one is happy to be there including the employees. This place used to be passably mediocre and something has happened with their management where it is now unbearable. We live close-by and my wife and her friends has refused to go their for about a year as they are noticeably rude to families and the food is borderline inedible and the beer is bland and unremarkable. I made the mistake of going there recently with some friends visiting from out of town and the employees were rude and enforce arbitrary rules (such as refusing to serve people who didn't line up in a line that didn't exist and other random weird "pub rules"), the manager clearly has never worked in service and seemed to encourage this bad behavior by puffing his chest out and angrily confronting customers who were just trying to order food and drinks. Situations were unnecessarily escalated and it felt like we were in a frat house surrounded by Napoleon complexes. This wasn't drunk 22 year olds, it was families and people who were legitimately confused by the poor service. Portland has so many places to be proud of and I was embarrassed that I exposed out of town guests to Migration Brewing. I hope they clean it up and hire managers who understand the service business but I won't ever be returning...

I've been here several times and never liked any of the beer. I like beer, and it's cool they offer flights, but they're all sharp and bitter and not enjoyable or interesting. Even the wheat and kolsh are unforgiving. It's like when you were a kid and mistook a glass for apple juice, except you're an adult and you paid for it thinking it was great Portland beer. Anyway, just not my taste. Location and patio are spot on! Lots of seating outside, enjoy the sun! Other options for beer around the corner.

EDIT: lol yes I'm reviewing the right brewery. They had a wheat and kolsh a few years back I think early summertime, I didn't write my review til like a year or three later when I was bored and clicking around google maps. I'm sorry the owner disagrees with my honest review enough to try to imply I'm lying or something. The ~4 others I was with for the sampler flight didn't seem too thrilled either so it may well have been an off day (though I've been here for the beer 3ish times same thoughts); a couple other beer-loving friends of mine speak highly of Migration beers; I just figured I'd offer my take for balance. Feel free to think I'm full of it I guess.

I'll add, on a positive note regarding my most recent visit, the people working there are cool and I love that they have a couple different kinds of bitters on hand for...

Went for the coffee stout or porter and unfortunately it was on nitro so it made it seem flat. When I had it at zoo brew it wasnt on nitro and it was absolutely delicious. They didn't carry any other porters or stouts on the taplist which is odd being it's winter time. Ended up leaving half the beer and going to backwoods brewing.

I've edited my review to one star due to the owner asking me to take down MY opinion on how I thought the brewery was. I asked YOUR staff this last sunday when I was there if you had any porter or stouts on tap to exchange the co2 beer for. They said no. So maybe you should check with your staff on the knowledge of what they have on tap. On top of it I love a good nitro beer if it's good 🤷 How dare you ask someone to take down their opinion on a review. That sealed the deal and I'll never be back nor drink anything from your establishment. I suggest If people are looking for great beer and service and food, I'd head to BACKWOODS BREWING for a pecan pie porter or a s'mores...

I had an amazing experience. First to begin. I was planning to go to Chapman school to watch the Swifts nest. I read in the paper that they were visible from Migration Brewery on Glisan. Not sure if I got confused or the news mentioned the rooftop bar (which is at the location by Providence Park but not at Glisan). So expecting to go watch the Swifts and expecting crowds I arrived way early but on time to get matched up with the blonde gentleman who gave me really good information about the Swifts, where to see them, and helped me set realistic expectations. Since I had time before they were due, I enjoyed an amazing coffee stout or two and a custom crunch wrap. I had fully expected to be somewhere else for happy hour but this was the right choice. I don't drink very often but the stout was so good and I had time that I decided another one was in order. Not sure if I would see the swifts, I definitely did. And I can't wait to return. Doesn’t even deserve one star. Beer is tasty I get it from Safeway all the time, so I figured the brewery would be just as good. First time visiting and definitely my last. Food was comparable to a TV dinner. Salad saturated in dressing that I couldn’t even consume it. And the portion size of beans and rice were pitiful on the comfort bowl; in addition we added chicken that was hardly seen totaling that one item to $14 (worth $6 at most). Mind you the beers were forgotten so the lady made them complimentary. A self serve establishment with prices of a full service restaurant. Paid $39 for a stomach ache. If you choose to visit I recommend the beers only! Don’t waste your money on the food. And p.s. don’t forget to buss your own table and clear your plates of discarded food in the trash bin before leaving. Worst experience in a long time!

Update ; Thank you Migration for changing your food menu. The ginger edamame was subtle and perfect for cleansing the palate when tasting beer. The pulled pork Bahn Mi was tender and juicy as was the chicken sandwich. The staff has stayed the same ,friendly, smiling, helpful . This remains true each time we have visited this establishment. The only mark against the brewery; no 7th inning stretch stout😁! That stout is special and I can't wait till it's brewed again. From one happy brew drinker and foodie, well done.
