I joined Lone Fir Fitness right before my 50th birthday, partly because my husband was deployed to Iraq for over a year. I knew I needed a way to distract myself from being alone, but I also realized it was time to take care of myself. For once in my life I had “me” time. Over seven years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and underwent two rounds of chemo/radiation, followed by 2 years of immunotherapy for a large tumor in my left hip and pelvis, and in my left psoas muscle. I wasn’t just looking to lose weight from all the treatments; I was trying to regain my balance again, rebuild my confidence, and reconnect with a body that felt like it had betrayed me. I started my journey with Zack, who helped me get grounded in the beginning. When he moved on, I was paired with Sarah, and that’s when everything changed. Sarah is an absolute powerhouse! She’s strong, fierce, and tough in all the right ways. She pushes me to my limits because she knows I’m capable of more, and she sees the fighter in me even when I forget it’s there. She holds me accountable through weekly check-ins, setting goals, and tracking my daily steps. With Sarah’s help, I’ve built real strength, gained balance, confidence with my new body and dropped two dress sizes. She has also helped me create good habits to become healthier. More importantly, she has helped me see myself as powerful woman again. I feel proud of what my body can do now, something I never thought I’d feel again. Also, as a bonus I always leave the gym with a huge smile. Lone Fir Fitness isn’t just a gym; it’s a community that truly cares. People stop to ask how you’re doing, and they genuinely mean it. The classes are fantastic, the massage and recovery services are amazing, and the entire space is designed to support growth, not just physically, but emotionally too.

The trainers are great, the workouts have a lot of variety. StudioX has consistently adapted to the times by offering new types of workouts and different formats (onsite and online scheduled classes, plus digital assets you can use on-demand). For those who are ready to be onsite as well as for those who want to comfort of working out from anywhere there are lots of options. The gym (even before the pandemic) has always been kept super clean and well stocked with equipment and supplies. So, even though the gym is not large enough to have showers, they offer lots of ways to freshen up before you head out to the world if desired. It takes less than an hour to pop in for a class and get a tough yet efficient workout that makes you feel good all day. Tim Irwin (owner) runs a great business and it always interested in member feedback and applies it swiftly.

The Lone fir fitness. Is a great place with great people like Veronica and Ash. Ash was my personal trainer great gal. Being a senior citizen the fees are out of my price range. But I was so glad that I got the opportunity to go and meet such great people. Thank you Nextdoor.

I was introduced to the studio through class pass and I try to visit once a week in between my cardio and Pilates classes to build muscle. I love that they have a class called jacked that is just weightlifting. Most other studios have only a mix of weight and cardio and I feel like it's easy to get cardio on your own. My apartment does not have a gym and I prefer a class modality to free weights at a general gym.

I really enjoy the classes with Alejandra. She is very patient. I have ADHD and one big piece of that is you're not really that aware of your body and so it really helps to have someone guide you so you know what you're doing wrong and what you're doing well. I remember doing weights in college in high school and I would always injure myself because my form was off and nobody told me.

Everybody that works there is so nice and welcoming. I'm thinking about getting a personal trainer in the near future and will definitely come here for that as well. The gym is huge and always impeccably clean. I also like that the classes are diverse. The people that come to clases and teach are very interesting and are not the stereotypical people that you would see at a usual gym like this. It seems like everybody works out for their health and to live, more than it it being the only thing they do.

Highly recommend if you enjoy classes or are looking for a personal trainer. They have a wide variety, including Pilates, cardio classes, and more one-to-one sessions. The parking is always pretty...

I have commented favorably on this gym a few times, but, as it recently changed ownership, here is an update. This neighborhood gym, in business in the same location for 20 years, was recently sold by the founder/owner. It's still small, meticulously clean and maintains its "community" vibe. The staff are thoroughly professional and know gym members by name. Many clients have been using the facilities for years. The new owners (clients of the gym, who are also neighborhood residents) are adding to the current menu of weight, HIIT, functional training and open gym. As before, class sizes are small and the exercise stations are well-managed. This remains a "traditional" gym in that equipment is limited to free weights, ropes, kettle bells, balls, Aerodyne bicycles, Concept 2 rowing machines, TRX and so on. In summary, Lone Fir Fitness (formerly Studio-X) is not a chain or franchise operation. The new owners are very engaged and this is their primary business. They are on-site daily. Prices are reasonable and the clientele is loyal. There are no hidden membership clauses. No pressure. There are no membership fees: you get what you pay for plus a lot more. It's a perfect alternative to the impersonal, corporatize, sterile gyms that...
