The culinary experience was truly remarkable, and the customer service was exceptional. The restaurant's location is also highly favorable, contributing to its overall appeal.
As a Jamaican who grew up in the Miami neighborhood known as "Little Haiti," I have had ample exposure to Haitian cuisine, particularly griot. My childhood memories include saving my allowance to purchase griot from a Haitian lady's house on Fridays, with the assistance of a neighbor who spoke her language. My first taste of griot occurred when I was 11 years old.
I felt compelled to share this background information to establish my credentials in assessing the quality of Haitian cuisine. Tap Tap Cuisine proved to be an exceptional gem in this regard. Also my 2 friends who accompanied me are of Haitian background. We all gave it a 10 out of 10! Highly recommend 👌
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, creating an immediate sense of camaraderie. By the time we departed, we felt like part of the restaurant's extended family.
If your travels bring you to Portland or if you live in the area. Check out this fine establishment. You won't be...
Read moreWe’re from out of town visiting Portland and on whim decided to look for Haitian food. Found a restaurant on yelp and called Tap Tap Cuisine to confirm their hours. At the time they were closing within 40min. Spoke with the owner and he decided to deliver our order to my hotel which was about 1mile away. Customer service rating is impeccable!!!
Now to the food: it smelled so good! Other guests in the lobby were staring at the bag. We forgot to take a picture of both containers just what was left 😂 We ordered djon djon rice (black mushroom rice), griot (deep fried pork chunks) bannan (fried plantains) and pikliz (spicy coleslaw topping). I am Haitian and my husband isn’t - naturally he waited for me to take the first bite, once he saw my reaction he dug in too. The food reminded me of home! seasoning was perfect, pork wasn’t fried too hard, rice was cooked to perfection. We are planning on going to the restaurant in person to eat before we leave. Although, I didn’t go to the restaurant, I gave the atmosphere a 5 because their rating would be low if I didn’t....
