Taqueria El Torito — Restaurant in Portland

I’ve eaten hundreds of their tacos at this point, and probably more than 25 Machetes. I usually don’t go for gluten stuff, but the crunchy cheese wrap burrito is absolutely delicious. These fine folks make their own tortillas with moist masa, and the machetes, mulitas, etc, are made that way too. Unbelievably delicious! I simultaneously want this place to remain as it is; affordable and accessible, open til 11pm; and yet they deserve so much more. If tacos were $4.00 each, they’d deserve it. The places around town charging that much presently, are not making tacos anywhere near as good. Por Que No and Tight Tacos are garbage comparatively. Go here, pay cash, tip big. Try the fries ice cream and churros sometime; the churros have a delicious cream filling. I feel bad for the rest of the carts there; I walk right past...

Fantastic, flavorful, and ACTUALLY SPICY SALSA!!! This is 100% a callback to the only thing I missed from central CA, authentic Mexican food.

The al pastor in my wet burrito (a decadent guilty pleasure) was great - lean cuts of pork slathered in smokey sweet chili and pineapple. Rice and beans were cooked well, flavorful, and really helped me soak up all the delicious red sauce they smothered my burrito in.

Partner got the carne asada burrito, made it chimichanga style, and loved it. I didn't get to try the asada because she included dairy in her burrito, but she said it was peppery, salty, and cooked to perfection.

The added salsas were fantastic - I asked for hot as anything "medium" or lower in Portland has been pretty bland, but they actually know how to do spice here,...

Just had Taqueria El Torito for the first time & both my husband & I fully devoured our burritos. He had a super burrito with chicken & I had a vegetarian super burrito. Their beans were soft & tasty & made without animal fats. Everything was flavorful. So happy to find this cart at The Yard! They're open until midnight too.

Update 10/1: Just learned a pro tip! If you order something as "veggie" they add green peppers & onions in place of the meat. For instance, veggie supreme burrito. If you order it as a a supreme burrito with no meat, you get it as stated on the menu, minus the meat, but no grilled peppers & onions....
