Sorry but the best thing I can say about my experience is that there was ample parking and they had a full bar. It's a quirky hole in the wall out of the way on Islington Street, which is good because it's away from the chaos that is downtown Portsmouth. I just wasn't into the baseball theme, which basically amounted to a bunch of recent baseball card packages lining the wall that appeared to be up for sale. We had a choice of sitting at the child sized seats at one bar or the big boy stools at the taller bar. In either case, as a normal-sized adult my butt just could not fit into either. I chose the tall stools to at least save my knees but I had to sit sideways to keep from sliding off. Who tested and purchased these chairs anyhow? So, while sitting very uncomfortbly I was served half a drink as the first martini I ordered, 3/4 for the second. Food came out fast but was nothing special. I'm not sure where the money went but our check was pretty high and ranked up there with many finer dining experiences we've had around town. I'm not into sports memorabilia kitsch so I've no...

Words cannot express this entire experience!!! Hands down absolutely AMAAAZZZZINGGG!!! The food 10 out of 10 made with so much love and full of flavor there is no way to hide your face when you take your first bite!!! The atmosphere is so unique and fun the service from the waiter was inviting and knew all the best choices but how could you not when everything is absolutely incredible!! The owner chef John himself was super friendly sharing his beautiful story!! I live 4 hours away this will definitely be a reason to come back!!!!! Ooommggg I had the cauliflower wings and the Rattler smash burger soooo juicy!!!!! My heart breaks because I wish we had a spot like this back in my hometown. You have to try even if you’re passing through to get your passport lol come here for lunch!! Not only will your belly’s be full but so will your soul! Oh and the music choice such a vibe!!!!! Love it here! In this whole world there will never be another like...

We were craving a delicious burger and fries and decided to give Behind the Plate a try (based on the stellar reviews online). LOVED everything about this place the food, the decor, the visibility of the owner, the friendly staff, the easy parking, the craft beer, the music...everything. I got the Rattler and just when I thought it couldn't taste any better, I put some pickles on it and HOME RUN! These pickles are not your typical run of the mill pickles either. They are special (tangy and sweet) and delicious just like everything else I ate. Don't expect traditional fries. They serve something so much better here. They look like home fries and taste like yummy fries and what a nice twist on the traditional burger offering! And the bread instead of a regular ole burger bun? Yes please! Rumor has it that outdoor dining will be available for the summer, which will be the...

Color me impressed with Behind The Plate. It's not just a baseball-themed restaurant - it's a culinary delight. Traditional baseball stadium foods transformed with high-quality ingredients. The only downside is the seating area is small, and sitting at the bar was cramped. The beer and drink menu is extensive. We both really enjoyed the Mass Appeal hard cider. Would love to try the cocktail menu next time we are in. As for the food, my husband enjoyed The Pesky, and I ordered the Smoked Poutine Hot Dog. The hot dog was delicious, and the additions of gravy and cheese curds were out of this world. I will be back to try their hot dog specials!

What I noticed was how quiet the place was. Yes, music 🎵 was playing and people were talking. But, it wasn't loud 🔊 and you could relax. I had the Marquee with beef 🍖 and No No Fries. Both were good 👍. Prices are reasonable for Portsmouth. I think 🤔 I met the owner because he knew so much about the restaurant. His service was excellent 👌. He told me the seating capacity was for 40 people. The place is sports themed. There are flat screens available to watch sports. I am going to recommend this place for a good sandwich 🥪 and relaxing time.
