Absolutely blown away by our meal at ChoppyStix in Portsmouth! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the food—wow. Just wow.
We started with the Malaysian roti and the dry-rubbed wings. The roti was hot, flaky, and crisp, served with a rich, slightly sweet Malay curry that was packed with flavor. But the real standout? Those wings. Crispy beyond belief with deep umami, a hint of numbing spice, and layers of flavor that kept us going back for more. Easily some of the best wings I’ve had anywhere.
After a good half hour of deliberating (because the menu is just that enticing), we went all in: • Hainanese Chicken with Ginger Rice – Tender, juicy chicken with rice that’s subtly aromatic and comforting. The sauce that comes with it? Incredible depth. • Khao Soi with Crispy Duck – Rich, coconutty curry broth with springy noodles and a generous portion of crispy-skinned duck. The duck is 100% worth the upgrade. • Duck Noodle Soup – A perfectly balanced, soul-warming bowl with deep, rich broth and fall-off-the-bone duck. A total sleeper hit. I can’t wait to slurp this up in the midst of a snowstorm!
The space itself is fun, hip, and unpretentious—exactly what Portsmouth needs. Creative, bold, delicious food made with care. Get yourself to ChoppyStix and support this gem. We need more places like this...

I ordered the Hanoi Bone-In Pho, and it was fantastic! The portion size and the quality of ingredients in the bowl made it worth every penny. The broth had just the right balance of flavor rich, comforting, and deeply satisfying.
Next, I tried the Ginger Rice Chicken (Kao Man Gai). The dipping sauce was spot-on, and the rice was cooked perfectly, not too dry, not too mushy. The chicken was tender and flavorful. It’s clear they take pride in making everything from scratch.
I also ordered the Chicken wings with Mala another great choice! It tasted homemade, and you can tell because e chicken wasn’t overly salty like many places that use pre-made wings from wholesale suppliers.
The Chicken Satay with peanut sauce was delicious too. The sauce paired so well with the tender chicken — it reminded me of the street food I had back home in Thailand.
The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were super friendly, constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend Choppy Stix for anyone craving authentic, street food-style Thai and...
Read moreWe did takeout, which was the Pad Thai (Chicken), Drunken Noodles (Duck), Crabzilla Bites, Wings, and Thai Ice Tea. Ordering was easy, 10/10. Crabzilla Bites were crazy good, 12/10. Duck was nicely cooked, 10/10. Wings were great, wicked spicy though, would be nice to be asked to dial that back, 10/10. The Chicken in the Pad Thai must have been cooked hours ago, it was dry as a bone, so 6/10. We wondered if maybe it was better in the Pad Thai dish served earlier in the day. Thai Iced tea was left unfinished, which was a bummer as the Thai Iced tea from another restaurant in town is very much a fan favorite. The strangest thing was pickup, where we arrived to say Hi and that we were there to pick up an order for my son’s name. We got an OK and a blank stare. We suggested perhaps they should maybe go see if it was ready. They seemed a bit put out at that request, but went off to find our food. Very strange. Hope they do well, but for sure they need to dial things in quite a bit. Will try again...
