I brought 2 rings here to get resized, in 2 different sizes. First, they accidentally made both rings the same size and didn't bother to call me to tell me it would be delayed until I called them asking when the rings would be ready. After picking them up, the one ring I had given them was completely ruined. The ring is apparently sterling silver and gold plated, and they mentioned that "sometimes it will fade when they melt it down to resize," which was not explained to me prior to the ring getting resized. Had I known this, I would not have taken the risk. Sometimes mistakes happen, but the staff tried to tell me that this is how the ring was when I dropped it off as they very reluctantly (and barely) took responsibility for the ring being ruined, which I found highly offensive as I wear the ring every single day. They tried to remedy the ring and put a gold plate back on after I sent them a photo of what the ring originally looked like. It's still not anywhere near close to how it looked. They did not charge me which was very nice, but the staff tried to minimize the value of the ring and made me feel foolish for not knowing more about the metal, which respectfully, is their job to educate...

I walked into Portsmouth Jewelers without an appointment. I explained to Lisa that my husband had passed away and I wanted something special made from our wedding bands, engagement ring and anniversary ring. I had something in mind and she worked with me on it, it was going to be challenging, but she was determined to assist me. We went through my idea and she drew some of it out. While she was doing this, I was playing with the two wedding bands-my band fit into my husband’s . Suddenly, Lisa’s eyes lit up! She came up with a totally different idea than what we working on and I loved it, I cried (really cried). Leo came over and gave me a bottle of water and then we went over the idea with him; he made a few simple suggestions. I just picked it up and it is PERFECT! I cried again and Leo gave me more water😊 I walked into this shop , no appointment, and was assisted immediately and shown such kindness. I needed my wedding ring sized up and wanted the rhodium plating redone. I first went to a jeweler in downtown Portsmouth, and was quoted a ridiculously high quote. I was also told my ring needed all kinds of repairs done. I know now that they just didn't want to do the work. Apparently my ring wasn't worth their time. I found Portsmouth Jewelers online and liked the reviews that I read. I'm so glad I stopped by because they were really friendly and assured me my ring wouldn't need all the extras done right now, and their quote was much more reasonable.

I picked my ring up today and I am thrilled with how pretty it looks, how fast they got it done, and how reasonable the cost was. Especially after that other ridiculous quote.
