Man this hurts to leave a 2 star review because every other Ikes I've been to is 10/10.
The main issue with this one is mayhem. The guy running the shift each time I've been in there is always shouting across the store to customers and employees. Gives a real stressful vibe. I think he's a trainer there to help them open but as someone whose worked in restaurants my whole life - that is not a good tone he's setting. People are obviously uncomfortable and awkward sitting in there while we all listen to chaos and confusion going on hoping our sandwiches come out right.
The 3 times I've gone in I have had to remind them the name of my sandwich after waiting 15min intently listening for my name to be called so i can get out of there...and after a while i go check if its almost ready and they say "oh that one's right here sorry about that." And offer me a drink. Which is nice and I appreciate it, but I'd rather you figure out how to run your shift properly like every other ikes I've been to and I'll buy a drink if I want one.
And what brought me to finally write this review is their Doordash service. They have messed up my order 3 times now (its my gf's favorite sandwich spot so I get it for us often). No bacon - even though I was charged. Asked for sauce on the side - on the sandwich or none at all. Ordered cookies one time and chips another time - not included in my delivery but I was charged for them. Asked for Sourdough - got Dutch crunch.
I called today before ordering for us to try and make sure it was made right and they still sent me the wrong sandwich.
Come on folks, it's not hard. I worked a job like this as a teenager at a far...
Read moreI’m a local customer who has visited Ike’s in Poway several times, but after today, it will be my last. While my departure may not be significant, I hope this feedback helps the management and staff improve.
I placed an order for pickup and wanted to redeem my rewards for free chips and a drink. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do so online, so when I arrived, I asked an employee for help. He didn’t know how to apply the rewards and referred me to the cashier. She tried to assist but needed to check with another employee, who was making sandwiches. This is where things went downhill.
Without even attempting to understand the situation, the employee immediately said, “That’s something we can’t do.” The cashier still tried to help, and I ended up placing a separate order for chips and a drink, successfully redeeming my points. However, the sandwich-making employee rudely told me to stop, implying I was trying to get a free sandwich. She said, “We don’t hand out free sandwiches at Ike’s,” even though I had already paid for my sandwich and was just using my rewards for chips and a drink.
My advice to management—specifically Carson, the manager—is to train your staff better. Rather than making assumptions, they should first understand the customer’s request. I wasn’t trying to get anything for free, just using the rewards Ike’s offers. If you’re going to have a rewards program, your staff should know how it works and treat customers...
Read moreToday was my first and last visit to Ike's. The staff was extremely rude and I was treated like it was an annoyance that I ordered (2) sandwiches (from a sandwich shop), let alone dared to ask if they were ready. I had placed my order online ($15/sandwich by the way, which is fine if they're good), and I arrived a little bit before they were supposed to be ready. I asked if they were ready, not expecting them to be and prepared to wait. They weren't ready so my family and I bought a couple bags of chips to eat while we waited. The shop was surprisingly not busy at all for the 4th of July, there were more employees than customers in fact. We waited for 20 more minutes and no one would even make eye contact with us. The girl at the front who appeared to be in charge was busy talking to the only other customer who appeared to be her friend or significant other who was eating there. The time our order was supposed to be ready finally passed so I went back up to the counter where I was avoided by one employee while the other went and got himself a soda. When I finally got someone to acknowledge me they handed me a bag that had been sitting on the counter since about 5minutes after I arrived! They knew we were waiting and no one called a name or order number or anything. This is some of the worst customer service I've ever received, and I definitely didn't feel any...
