I have never been more infuriated by a dining experience in my entire life. My friend and I arrived at the restaurant for lunch and to take advantage of Wednesday's all-day happy hour for frozen margaritas that is advertised on their website. When we arrived, we asked for a drink menu and asked which drinks qualified for the $3.99 10oz margarita special. The waiter apologized and said that the margarita specials are only from 2pm - 7pm on weekdays and that what was on the website was not correct, that the restaurant goes based on the special times as stated on the menu. I asked if he could check because the website-which I had pulled up on my phone in front of me-said Wednesday's special included all day $3.99 10oz margaritas, he insisted once again that this only started at 2pm. Note that the happy hour menu he gave us had house margaritas listed as $4.25, and not the $3.99 on their website about which I was inquiring about, and when I asked about the $3.99 special, he just kept referring to the drink menu in front of us that said 2pm - 7pm. Having already drove to the restaurant, my friend and I stayed and asked how much regular margaritas cost without the special. The waiter quoted us about $6 for small margaritas. Since the waiter made it obvious that I wasn't going to be able to take advantage of the $3.99 house margaritas, I ordered a 10oz strawberry margarita instead, while my friend ordered a 10oz house margarita. We also ordered chips and queso, which came out not nearly as hot as they should have been. My friend had also made a request for some extra sauce, but after it didn't show up for 20 minutes, it was clear that the waiter was never coming back with it. When we were eventually able to flag the waiter down for the check, he brought back a bill that was time stamped at 1:27pm and my friend's margarita was only $3.99. I could not believe that after going back and forth with the waiter about the details regarding the Wednesday all-day happy hour $3.99 special and him repeatedly insisting that such a deal did not start until 2pm that he had the AUDACITY to apply the discount after the fact. When I explained to the waiter that I was frustrated because I ordered a specialty margarita only after he repeatedly stated that house margaritas would not be discounted until 2pm, he went to grab his manager. His manager allowed me to explain the situation, and then a few minutes later the waiter came back out and started arguing with my friend and I. He proceeded to say that he never said that and that he had been 100% upfront about which margaritas were on special for that day when he absolutely had not. I asked why the discount had been applied to my friend's margarita before 2pm and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about and said that house margaritas had always been that price on Wednesdays. After him arguing with my friend and I at our table in front of other patrons, we asked if we could speak with the manager again since it was clear this conversation was not going anywhere. The manager never came back to speak with us, but instead sent the same waiter back to our table with a new bill in which my margarita was now $3.99 instead of $7.50. I am fully aware that miscommunications and misunderstandings take place, and had my bill been adjusted after first explaining the miscommunication, I would happily be returning to ernesto's. However, due to the poor service I recieved today, and the lack of professionalism from both the waiter and manager, my friend and I will not ever be returning to any ernesto's location. I have appreciated having a mexican restaurant so close to home in Prosper, but good, honest service is worth the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went here for the first time Saturday night and we were confused if it was open or not. The restaurant's sign on the building was turned off so we weren't quite sure. Decided to park and try the door anyways, there was wait staff sitting at tables so we assumed they might be closed already, but a young lady who we imagined to be a hostess came out and we asked "if they were still open?" she said "yes"...we even asked if they were open till 10pm since that's the hours we saw online. She again said "yes we are" and at that time it was 8:55pm. We were seated and it took a moment but a young man who was sitting at a booth nearby got up and came over to wait on us. He was kind but you can tell he was annoyed that he had to stop eating his food to come take our order. He brought us two sodas that were both super flat and we had to return them. After we placed our order we noticed a lot of commotion in the back of the restaurant where a large table had just left. They were obviously clearing the table. Also, while we waited for our food we heard a man come in and ask the same question "were they still open" the hostess who seated us said she had to go and ask the manager. He came out and walked up to speak quietly to the man waiting to come in and eat with two other people. He then left looking frustrated. At this time it was 9:15pm. He still should have been seated since they technically weren't closed yet. We thought it was kind of odd....as soon as our food arrived some of the waitstaff came out loudly and acted unprofessional carrying on personal conversations while in the dinning area. They all started disrupting our meal by banging around chairs and tables. They were putting chairs up which in my opinion should have been done after the dinning room is cleared of customers. We felt so unwelcomed and annoyed. We took a picture of what we had to look at while we were eating. The kitchen staff could be heard laughing and talking loudly from the front of the restaurant, the other table of guests looked just as uncomfortable as we did. We lost our appitite when we realized this manager and his staff were definitely trying to rush us out. Not how you want to feel when you go to a sit down restaurant. We ended up taking half our meal to go because we felt so uncomfortable and at this point upset. After we paid our check we left and do not plan on returning. Wish we would have read the feedback from other guests experience before we even tried going to this place. What's really disappointing was that the food was actually decent, but the service was awful. Even with decent food I cannot accept inconsiderate and unprofessional customer service. Ernesto's looks to have a few different locations around DFW so I hope their other restaurants have better management then what we got a taste of in Prosper. Even if this was a fluke incident which i don't believe it is...we understand food service is struggling keeping regular business hours due to covid and lack of workers....but i saw plenty of waitstaff in that restaurant and if they had decided to close early they should have said so before seating us. We would have been happy to take our money and business somewhere else. Very disappointed. I only gave this place two stars because the taste of food we did get to have for the short time we were in...
Read moreMy wife, my parents, and I went to your Ernesto's restaurant in Prosper tonight and it was by far the absolute worst experience we have had in quite a while. We have been to the location in Pilot Point since it is close to my parent's home once a month for the last 5 years and have always had exceptional service, great food, and a pleasant time. This location in Prosper was awful. We walked in around 8:10 pm which is more than enough time before closing to still want a good experience. We were seated in a back table in the front section and forgotten about. It took us 10 minutes for the bus boy to bring us chips and salsa and when he did, he only brought three. It took another 5 minutes after we had been trying to wave someone down to get someone to come and take our drink order. There was plenty of staff there, they were just all very blatantly ignoring us talking to each other toward the back where the POS machines are. Then another 10 minutes later a different server took our food order and we asked for salt (since there was none on the table) and more chips and salsa since we had been empty for quite a while and a man that appeared to be the manager brought chips to us. When our food finally arrived they made us aware that they didn't have charro beans anymore so they substituted them for refried. Okay no big deal. Then we asked for sour cream and my wife's beans since they were forgotten and the waitress came back several minutes later with no sour cream and said you had run out. My wife ordered the brisket tacos and they came out with no peppers like it says it comes on the menu. How does a Mexican restaurant run out of sour cream, charro beans, and poblano peppers??? The meat for our three orders of fajitas was cut into extremely large chunks and the brisket on my wife's tacos was huge chunks too that had not been broken up and full of huge gobs of fat and the tortillas were a pasty mess because they were so soaked in grease and had obviously been sitting for quite a while. Her plate had dry, crusted, old food on it from a previous diner and so did my fork. We paid our bill and left and when we got home my wife looked at the receipt and I had been charged for a large margarita when I had ordered and received the small. I do not at all feel happy knowing I spent a whole $67.14 tonight on our meals before tip. This is probably going to be the last time these regular customers for several years will be dining with...
