The Experience:
The interior of this cafeteria style restaurant is reminiscent of an old school bus terminal- abandoned but fondly remembered. The furnishings appeared repurposed but functional. The hot bar area was clean and the open kitchen was tidy.
The employee was friendly and very helpful. I appreciated how she neatly packaged the food items that transported really well.
The Food:
The white rice was okay, pairing nicely with their flavorful red beans. The beef was unfortunately extremely tough and chewy leaving an unpleasant texture. Additional cook time was required, as well as seasoning because the dish fell flat on taste.
The fried chicken was described as spicy- with the chosen spice being salt. They were restaurant Depo style Wing Dings cooked as expected but ridiculously salty.
The potato salad was flavorful, creamy and delicious. They achieved the perfect texture on the potatoes and vegetables.
The Value:
The menu items are budget friendly and the portions are generous. The restaurant is affiliated with the attached meat market/grocery store. I admire the business model which is reducing food waste, and providing a community with affordable home...
