Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grille - Providence — Restaurant in Providence

Me and my friends were at the bar and the waitress gave us the drinks and totally ignored us the entire night, there was 2 more working at the bar and same thing at the time I was even confused as to who was supposed to be taking care of us cause nobody was we didn’t even get menus, it seems like they were racist because we were all Spanish and they were white idk 🤷‍♀️ after catching one providing service to someone else we finally got to ask for menus, getting their attention to take our order was another challenge but every time we order drinks the check was switched almost instantly, terrible service the manager never came and asked how was everything, I think he was also racist he looked at us and went the other way, not cordial at all ,now I want to specify this was at the bar I been in this restaurant many times and when we sit in the dining area the service is not like this waitress are friendly and welcoming, someone needs to check this 3 girls working at the bar on Friday nights let them know consumers have rights, we paid for a service and it was not a pleasant experience maybe the manager can also ask people at the bar how is it going cause I had a few things to...

We like Chelo’s for their stuffies, clam cakes, and white chowder. In my opinion, they make the best. The stuffies are packed with flavor and don’t taste like ‘Thanksgiving,’ like many places do. Nice creamy chowder. Decent clam cakes. For dessert, we love a CHUDGE (the name cracks us up, it’s also just super fun to share). We also had their pistachio cake, which was good but lacking in pistachio flavor. ‘Gansetts (beer) is cheap - great place for beers and apps with friends. They carry Yacht Club soda (BIRCH is the best flavor). For dinner, however, we find the entrees quality to be pretty mid. Similar to an Applebees or Chilis. Not impressed with our burgers, sandwiches, or salads. The baked scrod I had once was an absolute mess - goopy, soggy, and almost impossible to find the fish. Prices are reasonable and it’s definitely a family-friendly, casual setting. Service is usually good except when they get slammed (parking can actually get full when they are super busy). I’ve only had one weird experience with a server, who brought up their politics and conspiracy theories unprovoked. Other than that, it’s not a bad place if you’re not expecting...

My wife and I come to the Chelos location quite often. We live fairly close by. This was our first time sitting at the bar and to be quite honest I don’t think my wife will return to this particular location anymore. When acknowledged by the bartender neither a welcome nor an introduction was given. After taking our order we asked if we could watch a baseball game that was about to come on. The bartender not only sarcastically stated that they would get to it when they had time but was unaware if the establishment even had the Chanel. Number one I’m not sure how long it takes to refill sodas at the bar and number two it’s your job to know what products and services are offered at the establishment you work at. When are meals came never once was there a check in and my wife sat there with her water glass empty for the latter of the experience. To the point where I shared my water with my wife.
