Generous Potions. Salad, the veggies appeared bright, and fresh sandwiches came out very warm(good!) this is a family style restaurant so can get loud in this large dining room with all ages of children.
Have come here all different times never seems to be very much of a wait for a seat or table even when busy.
It has been many years since I was last year desserts do not seem to be as amazing as I remembered, though I can state as I’ve gotten older my taste has become more refined such that more sugar doesn’t equal better taste more refined specific flavors equals better, quality, both desserts, and food items.
almost forgot because it’s no longer the default position to bring out pickles to the table when you arrive. I thought that was a wonderful touch. It does not cost much in terms of food cost, though it is a nice freebie give kids and others something to taste besides drink while waiting for meal.
Time to table from order seems consistent with my memory of previous visits over the years, which is fairly short though I suppose that also depends on the company one is with great company to accompany time always seems to go quickly at a forced get together time may seem drawn out, which has absolutely nothing to do with restaurant and everything to do with individuals co-tabled with. Finally, recommend typing reviews as they do not serve potions, but do bring to table objectively generous portions.
Note to Gregg‘s; Please consider reinstating your notable, automatic pickle delivery upon seating. If nothing else you’re becoming noteworthy with a 'freebie' edible to your customers that other restaurants typically do not do, that people do appreciate, and costwise is close to gratis customers typically appreciate even if they don’t partake in their very consumption.
atmosphere: yes plenty of breathable air room wide open so sound tends to be loud and tends to be more difficult to converse when restaurant is crowded this could be solved with some ceiling. Intermittent barriers to reduce sound levels would make quite a major difference. I believe this is one area in restaurant that may not be considered enough when planning opening or remodeling or general improvement from customer perspective.
Folks, generally like to speak to one another at meals social however when ambient noise gets too great as customers get older, it becomes increasingly more difficult to have that conversation unless consideration is implemented for noise reduction. I’ve seen this done in other restaurants, family restaurants like Greggs, where I did not notice the shrieks and loud conversation with & by children.
As a family restaurant who wishes to cater to the family and to couples, they may wish to consider some noise abatement within the big open area as there is nothing visible or changes, observed at all over the years the same ambient noise...
Read moreI went to celebrate my birthday with my toddler. I was waiting to be seated a few min the dessert station was full and several older couples was dining in. Finally a girl came and asked if I was dining in…? Um why am I standing waiting at the sign plz wait to be seated… anyways she seats me rite next to where they retrieve the silverware and clean station for set up. awful. My toddler wanted to keep jumping to get the silverware attempted several times to get the sweeper. My waiter brought my salad he insisted I give my toddler a cup so I regrettably allowed it, He then spilt water on him bc the kids don’t stay on properly. I explained and handed cup back to waiter he didn’t even offer us napkins. My son was wet .. the food I ordered arrived. OMGOSH so small of a portion!!! 20$ bucks…. What a disgrace like 5 tablespoons of mash potato’s 3 slices of turkey and a scoop of stuffing. For 20 bucks, I was told the portions are good here. I came a few years ago and I enjoyed the turkey dinner so this was what I wanted. I didn’t think I would still be hungry or that I wouldn’t have enuf food to share with my toddler from one plate. I ordered pumpkin cheesecake I have got this to go for years it’s a fav of mine. The desert came to go as requested And the check , it was 32$ for a slice of cake and a child size meal of turkey dinner. I’m so disappointed . And sad bc I would have been thrilled to go back as it’s my fav meal. I even on the ride there contemplating ordering my thanksgiving dinner there(pre orders). SMH needless to say I don’t recommend Gregg’s to anyone bc your family and even kids will still be hungry.
Sad bc I recommended this very restaurant for dessert to 3 diff servers while I was dining this wk.
32$ for a meal for a single person is outrageous. It’s greedy and uncalled for. If you raise the prices you should increase...
Read moreWhile visiting Providence, RI, we wanted to check out their infamous dessert place called Gregg’s. Actually, I thought they were bakery spot until I actually got there. They do offer actual diner-type food as well.
They had mainly three sections in the inside. The deli, take out, and the dining area. We went there late in the evening after dinner, so it was not so busy, which was good to us. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a staff and taken to one of their booth tables.
We were forewarned from our family member that we would not be able to eat the cake at one sitting. But until it came to our table, I didn’t completely trust her… The size, the weight, the decadence of each cake, she was so right!
I went with Hasboro Giving Cake, a.k.a. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake. Gregg’s will donate a portion of the purchase price to the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. I thought that was really great!
Another dessert of choice was Carrot Cake. It had a good amount of frosting, I liked how it was not covered in crazy amount of frosting. This way, you get to taste the carrot cake itself, instead of it being overpowered by the flavor of the frosting. This is a real deal carrot cake, totally awesome!
Then, last but not least, the most famous and popular cake of all, Death by Chocolate Cake. This one has six layers, and loads of chocolate… This cake was the cake to die for, especially for chocolate lovers. There is nothing but chocolate here, but in different texture and flavor. Very moist, decadent, velvety and just melt in your mouth… It certainly is sinful…
The staffs here were nice, although our server disappeared for a bit, but he came back to check on us and the coffee a couple of times. The dessert experience was heavy but good, I am glad we finally got to try their...
