Alpine Food Shop Westchester — Restaurant in Proviso Township

My go to is the Alpine, regular size with oil. The sandwich is cut in half which suggests you could eat it for two meals...I've never been successful in eating it in less than one sitting. I will say that the sandwich WILL survive just fine until the following lunch or dinner that night, wrap up and keep cool. When we have a half, it is a much better experience if you let the sandwich come to room temperature. Leave on the counter for an hour and cross your fingers that no one wolfs your leftovers down. The shop uses REAL bread, I believe Turano (maybe Gonnella?) which is delivered fresh and they go till there is no more bread. They ran out once on me but I called late in the day. Key to any good sub is the bread so pretty much the chains are a no go for me. Why bother when you can get a way better sub for about the same cost?

The Westchester location is smaller compared to their other location. Yet, they still have a good selection of things other than sandwich. Pasta salads and all yummy things that make marinara taste even better. I missed the cooler across from the deli counter as most people stand there to wait for their orders. Poke around, try not to be hungry. One of my sons first meals when he comes back from school is an Alpine although he skips the oil...I blame...

This is my first time visiting this location. It dawned on me after looking at the website that I’ve been to the Elmwood Park location! The EP location is bigger & was quite busy; I ordered a turkey sandwich which was good but nothing special. HOWEVER, at this location I went for The Alpine 6” which was mouthwateringly good! I wasn’t sure what capicollo & was told by the smiley staff member that it’s like spicy salami. He wasn’t wrong as it does have a slight spice to it. I wanted to send an email regarding this but there was no way to contact them. I’m a fan of alpine but my roast beef sandwich today was basically all fat. I’m not sure if they’ve switched meat suppliers? It was very disappointing and not at all appetizing. I had to throw about 75% of the meat on my sandwich away. Hoping this was a fluke and not the norm because if it is, I can no longer support...
