Happier Now Cafe & Market — Restaurant in Proviso Township

We loved the children’s story hour here! It is a great fall/winter activity. It’s a free event and include stories, songs, and activities. Miss Leanne and Miss Andrea did an awesome job engaging all of the young students in attendance. Afterwards, we stayed for lunch and cocktails (always a bonus to be able to have a cocktail after children’s story hour). All of the food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the tuna salad sandwich, cheeseburger, beet and goat cheese crostini, and kid’s mac and cheese. The best items were the crostini and the tuna. I also really enjoyed the pink sangria. To say my friend and I felt UN-WELCOMED is an understatement. We stood at the door far longer than we should have with no acknowledgement. We seated ourselves & after that we sat for more than 5 minutes; still no acknowledgement. When finally acknowledged, it was lack luster at best. We decided to leave & spend our money where we thought we would be appreciated. That was a great decision as we found a great spot that we thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning to & recommending to our family & friends.

I don't know what his place is trying to be but it's not working. Been three times and hoped it would get better. Food is mediocre every time. At $16 for veggies on bread, no thank you. Beer I had was past the expiration date on the can! Coffee was so bad I dumped it after we left. Worst of all the owner was so un-welcoming. Me and my little son felt like we should not be there.
