Just left there at 8 this morning, was there by myself, the server that sat me, sat me in the Back of the room against the wall, there was a couple from out of town, that the woman who sat me said that she was bringing them Donuts free for the holidays, and because they were there for the first time. This woman who sat me never seen me in there Restaurant before, never even seen a donut for myself visiting your Diner. and the server who did take care of me was nice at first, but before I finished my meal, actually said, I am leaving this here now, which was the Check, apparently knowing I wasn’t going to want anything else, which I might have gotten a order to go for my wife, and I don’t want you to feel I am pushing you out the door, I will be back by to fill up your cup, only to have her never come back to fill the cup of Coffee again. Food is good at a higher than average prices for the area. But to be honest Hospitality need a pick up, and not to be a one sided hospitality for a couple instead of just a single Man coming in for a Breakfast. I am one that worked for tips in my younger days, and know how it is working for tips, but I also reward for good service also. Usually 35- 50% of the Bill, but I also slight if service is not equally shown from one customer to another. Don’t need to be pampered, but treated equally is always appreciated. Was not shown...
Read moreWas visiting Chicago and needed a place for breakfast. This was close by so we decided to take a look, and I'm glad we did! It's a cute little place and even though they were busy we were able to be seated quickly. Our waitress, Sarah, was so sweet and always on top of coffee refills. It also came with two pieces of big wheat toast, or we could've ordered a pancake instead. It was absolutely delicious! It was so good, that we stopped by again the next morning and ordered the same thing. The skillet, toast, fruit, and two coffees came out to just under $20 and considering the fresh, deliciousness of the food, great atmosphere, and generous portions I consider it money well spent.
This will be one of the places we stop at each time we...
Read moreFood was ok. Took a sip of coffee and looked back at my mug to find a lipstick stain on it... right where I had just put my lips.... gross! Asked for another mug... had a lipstick stain on it too. Noticed my glass had a lipstick stain too.. but I didnt want to make a big deal of it. After finishing our meals we went up to pay. The cashier asked out loud, "ARE YOU LEAVING A TIP?" Wish I could have discreetly decided what I wanted to leave. After signing off and paying, I asked if she was the manager. She said she was the cashier and pointed out the owner behind her. I said I didn't want to be a bother and just wanted to mention that there were lipstic stains on my mugs. Before I could finish my sentence she pats the owners shoulder to turn around. So I cleared my throat and told her about the mugs. She without even acknowledging my complaint walked past me and out of view. Guess I should have made a big deal...
