Restaurant's have been imported to the U.S. from around the world for ages. No, not the food, the restaurants. From Japanese, Chinese, Polish, Korean, Southern French, Northern French ...the list goes on. But, how many times has it been said, "I feel like Chinese tonight, how 'bout you guys?" "Yeah sure, why not." With affluent neighborhoods cropping up in the Chicago land area annually, there follows as many ethnic restaurants to match the taste buds of Chicagoans, at any time day or night!
However, also taking its place in the elegant tradition of ethnic fare right here in our hometown is Meal of The Day Café; that bring to mind not China, or even France or Poland ...but home. And after the first re-education in culinary excellence one is bound to recall that before experiencing that first taste of Chinese food, people ate like Kings and Queens right at home. There is soo much gorgeous art and statues, photos, decor that you think you're in a museum. The owner was an absolute sweetheart. I'll go back just to be in his company and chat. I tried the catfish with some potatoes and slaw. Everything was amazing. The slaw was my favorite. I also tried the preach cobbler which was delicious. Food was really affordable, I got the meal of the day for 7 dollars, it was Turkey, and an macaroni with spinach casserole. Dessert was 3 dollars, I gotta have dessert.
