Meal of the Day Cafe — Restaurant in Proviso Township

Restaurant's have been imported to the U.S. from around the world for ages. No, not the food, the restaurants. From Japanese, Chinese, Polish, Korean, Southern French, Northern French ...the list goes on. But, how many times has it been said, "I feel like Chinese tonight, how 'bout you guys?" "Yeah sure, why not." With affluent neighborhoods cropping up in the Chicago land area annually, there follows as many ethnic restaurants to match the taste buds of Chicagoans, at any time day or night!

However, also taking its place in the elegant tradition of ethnic fare right here in our hometown is Meal of The Day Café; that bring to mind not China, or even France or Poland ...but home. And after the first re-education in culinary excellence one is bound to recall that before experiencing that first taste of Chinese food, people ate like Kings and Queens right at home. So, for those who've almost forgotten what real home-cooking was like growing up, and especially for those now living here in Chicago who's original hometowns hail as far as the East or West coast, or even the Southwest, Meal of The Day Café will remind them of what eating like royalty used to be like.

Like OMG, so this hidden gem is located in the office building I work in. And the ambiance of the Cafe is surreal. The African art is soo memorizing. There is soo much gorgeous art and statues, photos, decor that you think you're in a museum. The owner was an absolute sweetheart. I'll go back just to be in his company and chat. I tried the catfish with some potatoes and slaw. Everything was amazing. The slaw was my favorite. I also tried the preach cobbler which was delicious. Highly recommended this Cafe if you're ever in the area. It's such a beautiful cultural experience, can't wait to go back. Give this man all...

Nice view, feels like your higher than just the 4th floor, set up like a downtown restaurant in a skyscraper. Food was really affordable, I got the meal of the day for 7 dollars, it was Turkey, and an macaroni with spinach casserole. Dessert was 3 dollars, I gotta have dessert. Hour are a bit odd, but they are always open Thursday because they also host a rotary meeting on that day. They do catering as well, I will try their catering...
