I am a regular league bowler at this place. I have seen a few restaurants come and go at Hillside Bowl and it took a final straw to push me to write this review. I don't even know where to start with this review. From day one until today the customer service has absolutely sucked from the owners wife, Tracy I think is her name. On multiple occasions her nasty attitude has been unacceptable but despite this I kept patronizing them. Out of nowhere today she asks me for an ID to purchase 10 wings with my card, so I ask why, you see me all the time. She proceeds to tell me it's been a lot of fraud. I just chuckled and showed her my ID. My blood was boiling because this woman has given me a hard time since I asked for my employee discount when they first opened. I waited 20 minutes and went back to get my food. I ask if I can have a hot sauce, and instead of her handing it to me she tells me she has to charge me because I've already gotten sauce on my chicken. I said we'll I don't have my wallet so that's okay. At any moment for the sake of retaining a customer and displaying a good gesture of customer service she could have given me a small thing of hotsauce, considering I had just spent $20 on 10 wings. BUT, NOPE. She stayed true to her RUDE self. We forced down 6 total wings but they were horrible. At $2 per wing we threw away $8. My experience at Rickettes inside Hillside Bowl was extremely disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was unwelcoming, with rude and off-putting signage aimed at customers.
I ordered 30 wings in what was initially a nearly empty restaurant, with only one other customer present. Ten minutes after placing my order, a small rush of about eight patrons came in. Despite ordering after me, every single one of them received their food before I did—even those who also ordered chicken. I ended up waiting at least another 20 minutes after all their orders were filled before my food was finally ready. It seemed clear that my order had been pushed aside to handle the rush, which is completely unacceptable.
When I finally got my wings, the quality was just as frustrating as the service. Some of the wings were tiny and lacked any real meat, and several had not been cleaned properly—there were noticeable feathers still attached, which was both unappetizing and disappointing.
To top it off, the environment left much to be desired. Parts of the restaurant were roped off and filled with clutter—piles of tables, booths, coolers, and even security camera equipment. It felt more like a storage unit than a functioning restaurant.
