This location has improved its looks immensely since I was last here well over 10 years ago. I was heading back down to drop my kids off where they were staying and call in and order for a pizza. I haven't had a good home run in pizza and too long and I was really looking forward to it. Someone answered the phone quickly and took my order and my name and I was told it would be about 20 minutes. That was roughly my drive time so I figured that would be perfect. When I arrived at the restaurant and walked in it was unclear where I was supposed to get in line. You walk into the counter right in front of you and there's a rope dividing so you can walk on either side of it there were several people on the other side of the rope by the counter and a couple of them were talking to the person behind the counter but then they were going in different directions and there were other people just standing around there. Since someone was at the register I stood off to the side and waited. There were several other people working there and nobody seemed to really be paying attention to the customers. While I was waiting I had a very interesting conversation with another one of the customers who also directed me to where I probably wanted to stand. I thought it's sad that this is someone local who gets stuff here and also wasn't sure which side to start from. While I was waiting for my turn I overheard employees talking because customers came in and went and sat down. Apparently their dining room was closed but not roped off. I'm assuming that they just have staff shortages like so many businesses do. The interior of the restaurant was somewhat of what you would expect from an Italian restaurant except this location does most of its business through carryout, it seems, so the dining room is actually fairly small. It looks like what a Home Run Inn should look like.
When it was my turn I gave them my name and my pizza was ready to go. It cost a bit more than I expected but I was happy just to have it this time. I took the pizza home with me and it was still nice and hot so I really enjoyed it. I actually had some for dinner that night and the rest I munched on throughout the next day as I had nothing to do.
The pizza tasted great and was exactly how I remembered it but this location needs some work. If I was living in the Chicago area I would be more likely to drive to a different location and sit down and enjoy myself while...
Read moreI visited the Hillside location with my son for a quick lunch. We ordered the 2 slice lunch special to eat in the restaurant and the first error was they boxed and bagged it to go. When we told them it was supposed to be for dining in the restaurant, they just handed us some forks and told us where we could get napkins. Not one of the FOUR people standing and chatting at the register apologized for the error. When we ordered there wasno one else ordering orwaiting for food besides us. My kids and I are huge fans of Home Run Inn Pizza; but I'll be honest, it is overpriced in the restaurant and the customer service is LOUSY. We have tried eating at this location a few times and that was the last. The restaurant pizza looks and tastes the same as the frozen, but with the frozen you pay a fraction of the cost and don't have to deal with rude staff. We will get our Home Run Inn pizza from the grocery store from now on. The only reason this review gets 3 stars is because we like how it tastes and it's original otherwise it would have scored a 1...
Read moreZero stars if I could. Walked in to extremely rude staff and ordered a small pizza with salad and specified it was takeout. Was overcharged for that but let it go. After 15 minutes I asked when my order would be ready, the girl goes to the back to ask and comes back but doesn’t say anything. I ask again and she shrugs her shoulders and says she doesn’t know. Ok? I insist I need a time and she says probably 50 minutes. Fifty minutes?? Not sure why a pizza would ever take that long...
I then asked if I can get a refund as I don’t want it if I have to wait that long and wasn’t told about the wait ahead of time (you would think someone would mention the wait time, especially when you know the customer is standing waiting). The manager gave me a refund but was extremely rude and talked about me to her coworker right in-front of me.
Will never come back and recommend...
