I am going to be as straight as I can about what happened to my wife and I when we went to this restaurant to eat. Please know that I am only doing this review to help the owner know how bad this went. We arrived at 8:18 pm to sit down and eat knowing that they closed at 9 pm. They had a sign on the door saying, "We do not sit anyone 40 minutes prior to closing". We were there in time and the employees did not want to seat us but they did. After seating us, we hurried to order knowing that they were anxious to close the building down. Our guess is that they had already closed the kitchen and cleaned up since we were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered the veggie egg rolls, Yellow curry chicken soup and the orange chicken. The waitress was fine and did work to get our order in. When our food arrived I took one of the pieces of orange chicken and bit into it and it was raw on the inside. I spit it out and thought maybe it was just that piece. The 2nd piece I cut into first and it was raw as well. As you know, raw chicken is dangerous and can actually make someone very sick. When my wife saw this she immediately didn't want to eat her chicken soup for obvious reasons. The manager came by and asked "how is your meal". We told him "not good" because of the raw chicken and he told us that the chicken comes fully cook frozen and they just heat it up. This of course is not true because I could see the uncooked chicken and the rubber ball pink texture. He apologized and said that when we came in that the kitchen had to, "open up a new bag of chicken". He didn't charge us for my meal and gave us 50% of my wife's meal which we didn't eat. At 8:40 pm after wondering what we had gotten ourselves into, they started vacuuming. I am not sure when food establishments started closing 30 to 40 minutes earlier, but we have seen this kind of behavior all over the valley in many different establishments. If they are so anxious to close the doors at 9 pm....then just close at 8:30 pm and call it good. I am sick of being treated by employees at places like this that I am a burden because they want to "get the heck out of Dodge" right when the clock strikes 9 pm. Owner...this is not a good look for you and I would work hard to correct this problem....
Read moreI feel torn on what to review Spicy Thai.. I had been years ago and remembered it being good. I came with some friends on a Friday evening. The restaurant was packed! We waited about 10 minutes before a table was ready - no big deal. Our waiter took awhile to come and ask us what we wanted to drink. We browsed the menu and knew quickly what we all wanted to order. It took around 15 minutes for our waiter to come back after giving us our drinks and order our food. My husband and I ordered the egg rolls, pad Thai, and massman curry. The appetizer took around 20 minutes to come out, followed by the food about 20 more minutes. I know that it was a Friday night but the restaurant isn't that big. I don't know why it took so long to get our drinks and food. Our waiter brought the food and brought us the wrong curry. We had to ask for our massman curry. It was shortly brought out with no apology.
The eggs rolls were tasty. They were very hot and full of filling. The chili sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and heat. The pad Thai was very good. It was a very generous portion and full of chicken - which was a great surprise. The peanuts added a good texture. I was very impressed with this. The massman curry was only okay. It wasn't that flavorful and tasted like it was lacking or missing something. I did appreciate how much chicken was in it but would've liked to see more carrots and potatoes. The rice was cooked well. The food was nice and hot when it came out. It was very fresh.
The reason for the three stars in the service. As mentioned above, it took awhile for all the food to come out. Our drinks were never refilled. After we got our food, our waiter never checked on us. We finished eating and had to ask a different waiter for boxes and our checks. The service needs to improve. I will be back for the...

We decided to try Spicy Thai after being curious about it for some time. My husband and I are both big fans of Thai food, so we were really hoping to find a new favorite place.
When we entered the restaurant we were seated promptly-- a pleasant surprise for dinnertime on a Saturday night. They were also very prompt in bringing our menus and drinks, but our server was almost too eager to take our orders-- she asked if we were ready to order almost as soon as we'd cracked open the menus, then came back every minute or so to ask again. I felt rushed. When we did order, our server told us that they were out of the one dish on the menu that my husband was really excited to try -- bummer. So he settled for some not-so-awesome sweet-and-sour chicken.
Our appetizer was brought to us quickly but without plates, napkins, or utensils, which was awkward. We were also left unattended long after we asked for our check, and our waters were not refilled once during our visit.
Overall, the food was unimpressive, the service mediocre, and the atmosphere lousy (large group of noisy college-aged kids across the restaurant were so loud we couldn't hear each other from across the table).
We won't go back. We'll stick to Thai Evergreen or...
