I was looking for a great source of tamales for Christmas, and this place MORE than satisfied. It is not a place to dine in, but rather just a standing room only, walk in, order, and walk out with your food kind of place. I am a very white person who speaks only enough Spanish to embarrass myself and the 1st thing I noticed was that they were speaking only in Spanish to the people they were helping before me. I was immediately worried that I would have a difficult time ordering or worse offend the workers. NOT SO!! They spoke perfect English with me and made me feel completely welcome. I was so relieved. They were working like a well oiled machine. They had my order taken, filled, paid for, and handed me my food and I was out the door before 2 or 3 mins passed. Everything smelled so good, and I was tempted all the way home to pull one out and eat it. I spent most of my life in Texas where good tamales were easy to find. I was longing for what has become a tradition for my family to have those delicious tamales with our favorite side dishes for Christmas dinner. These tamales were so large that it only took one to feed each of my family members, except my teenage boys, they ate two. The flavor was perfect. We had our homemade rice, and beans and I was so happy in my heart to experience this meal again just the way I remember. These, I am pretty sure, are the BEST TAMLES I HAVE EVER HAD! I am going to prepare some eggs now for a tamale breakfast and enjoy having them again. Totally worth the price, which I was at first shocked by, but for the price of one meal for my family of 7, we are actually getting 2 meals. BARGAIN!!! I am happy to make this place my go to place. Bonus: I really enjoyed visiting with people in line as we waited for the next hot...
Read moreI placed my order at the beginning of December and set the pick up date and time on Saturday the 19th and I was told the rice and green chili would be cold as they would be prepared ahead of time which I said I was fine with. I even called a couple of days before that and confirmed my order. Then on Saturday, they had a heck of a time finding my order and I think they only found it because of MY sticky note I had everything written down on. Then it turns out they didn't have any green chili and was further told they wouldn't be making any that day so I was out of luck. Why didn't they have any set aside for my order from the last batch they made whenever that was?? My mom has also had numerous problems with them every year from them not being able to find her order to her being given someone else's order (which is probably what happened to my green chili). You would think with this place having been around for so long that by now they would have some kind of method to organizing all the orders they get around the holidays but nope. My family and I will be going elsewhere from now on because we're tired of the mistakes year after...
Read moreFirst time trying this place out, I had high hopes but I was really let down!, the Tamale's looked good at first glance, once you get through a bunch of oja's everything falls apart, it just crumbles, you can't pick up and eat, I ordered a dozen and each one had to be eaten with a fork. The meat had good flavor, the masa and the way they wrap Tamale's needs lots of work, Delicia's around the corner on sante fe is a little better at least when you unwrap the Tamale you have a whole Tamale and not a big mess. At $22 a dozen not worth it, definitely...
