Would be 5 stars for food, drinks, atmosphere, but can only leave 2 stars due to getting bit by the dog on property. Would gladly return if dog is no longer allowed to roam or kept to one section.
On this last Friday, we went to Cockrell to meet some friends for a cider. Cockrell allows children under 18 months to come in. So we brought our 6 month old with us. We had drinks and ordered pizza from the food truck. All of the food, beverages, and atmosphere were really great, until the black lab on the property came over to our table. Earlier in the evening, we were petting the dog and our friends (who had been before) said he was very friendly.
Later on, my 6month old was in his car seat on the grass between my husband and I, the dog wandered up to our table. My friend called the dog over by her, so the dog would not bother the baby. I opened my pizza box to eat a slice, and the dog bit my hand. He was going for the pizza slice but instead got my hand. It was very unexpected and quite painful. When we were there, it was early spring, but the weather suddenly warmed up to t-shirt weather, and we were playing fetch with the dog on the lawn, relaxing in the lounge chairs, drinking some blackberry cider (of course) and listening to the chickens. The tasting room is small with plenty of seating on the deck outside it, and the bottles they sell are some of the best cider Cockrell makes. On the weekdays they're open, the place gets packed fast after work hours, and parking can be a challenge so get there early to make sure you get a parking space and a table. It's no longer the secret...
Read moreSo happy I found this gem! Wanted to take my good friend to a cider place & it did not disappoint at all. Tried a blackberry and blueberry cider. Both were delicious. Venue has different food trucks on different days. They also have wine and beer. We decided to buy the glasses because we can bring them back and reuse them! They are all about recycling & we love that. The atmosphere is also very inviting. Saw people grabbing games to play at the table too. Looks like they had a nice selection. We will...
