My friend invited me to dinner at Lucky Lou's, a friendly little place to the side of Bashas shopping center at Power & Chandler Heights. When you walk in, you can sit at the bar, the restaurant, or patio. They have a variety of seating, booths, low and hightop tables. The atmosphere is casual with chalkboard written specials, tv's and retro casino themed art on the walls. Our server, Jordan, was so nice, friendly, and answered all of our menu questions. You absolutely must try the fried pickles! They are delicious, and I will dream of them. The pickles are cut in large sandwhich slices, not little rounds. The breading on the outside is so crunchy it reminds me of eating a chicken sandwich with pickles, but without bread! Amazing!!! Dip them in ranch, and they are creamy, salty, crunchy and a little sour. Yummy! My friend JF ordered the French dip with au jus and onion rings on the side. I ordered the wings combo, 6 bone in medium wings with onion rings. They have several sauce options. The onion rings were coated with a thinner batter but crispy as well. I liked the pickle batter better; maybe they will do onion rings that way one day. Both dishes were flavorful and finger licking good! Oh, and the glasses of soda are huge. They have dessert but I didn’t try any this time, but I will the next time. Give Lucky Lou's a try; you will be glad you did.

Lucky Lou’s is a tightly packed little bar and grill with an extensive food menu, a dozen or so beer taps, and pretty much every liquor imaginable. It’s a Casino themed pub, for some unknown reason, which makes it’s undoubtedly unique, if not a touch confusing, with its somewhat half-assed execution. They do have tons of TV’s for the sports watchers. Looks aside, the front of house was attentive and kind, and the back of house kept the food flowing out quickly during their Friday lunch rush. Speaking of lunch, Lucky Lou’s has a whole page of their menu dedicated to their lunch specials. I opted for ol’ reliable, the cheeseburger. It’s arrived pretty quick, and it was perfectly cooked to a medium rare. The patty was juicy and big, but seemed to be lacking basic seasoning (salt/pepper), which left my taste buds a little dissatisfied. The fries were excellent, and the ranch dressing was good, but I wish they’d told me they were gonna charge me $0.50 for it. All in all, a solid spot. Not spectacular by any means, but it never pretends to be.

Visiting from out of state and family gave me the option to pick Lucky Lou’s or another restaurant. I chose Lucky Lou’s after looking at the menu. There is so much food to pick from! Everything sounded so good. Our server was attentive and answered every question I had. He was fabulous!! I asked him his favorite item off the menu and he recommended turning anything into a wrap. I was already looking at three different wrap choices, the Thai, California, and the Buffalo wrap. I ended up getting the California wrap with blackened chicken. If you’re torn on what to get, get it!! The French fries were perfectly cooked as well. We all had drinks, draft beer and a specialty drink with orange. Again, our server put it together and my MIL loved it! I’d give this restaurant 10 stars on the food and service we had tonight. I’d definitely come back again the next time I’m in town visiting.

Yum! This was our 2nd visit here. Our 1st visit was good but was overshadowed with gloom because my dh did not like his food. That has nothing to do with Lucky Lou's. He actually doesnt like much and doesnt bother to ask for what he wants. So my son and I have found the solution to his disdain of all things new, we go without him. My son ordered the kids burger with cheese. He asked for BBQ sauce and they added it. It was HUGE. The waitress, who was great, said it was 1/3 pound. I went for the Oceans 11. It was Really well fried cod with perfect flaky-ness. It was not overly salted and the batter was light and crisp. The tarter sauce was homemade and creamy. The broccoli was good with parmesan cheese shavings and slivered almonds. The only dissapointment with the food was that the French fries were battered. I am 95% sure that they weren't on the last visit, but now they are. However, the batter was very light and not overly seasoned as many battered fries are. They used to taste like how McDonald's fries were in the 80s, now they don't. My only compaint is the music. I like it, it's old rock Led Zeplin, Bob Segar it's actually great music. But the restaurant is decorated with Rat Pack paraphernalia. The menu is also based on an old Vegas theme. I jusy think that the ambiance would be better if they played some Sinatra or Rat Pack music. I don't know if they tried it and got complaints or not, but with such a dedication to the theme I believe music should match. You should definitely go here, they have food and drink happy hour specials. I believe they also have lunch specials but we were...

Update: 5-21-24 We decided to try out Lou’s fish “oceans eleven” we both liked the fish. Three pieces with a thin batter and good flavor, the fries are crispy and done well. The tartar sauce was flavorful and plenty for the fish. You get a choice of two sides so Steff had a side salad and fries that we shared and I had potato salad and baked beans. The beans were nothing special but that potato salad is well worth it! Large potato chucks a tasty sauce with a dill season. Definitely a homemade salad, very nice. The fish and your choice of two sides and there are many sides to choose from you get plenty to eat. The staff is friendly and happy to serve so tip well, you don’t get that in very many places any more. Try the Toasty Amber Ale, if beer is your style. It’s a nicely bodied amber with a toasty finish. The green salad was crispy and the Ranch dressing had very nice flavor. Could

Stopped in here to give them a try and found a great wing spot! Steff and I love wings and they were cooked up right. We had them grill them for some extra crunch and it was well worth it. The medium Buffalo sauce and Parmesan garlic sauces were perfect. Especially the medium Buffalo a perfect Louisiana style tang and heat. A nice lunch and kilt lifters for...
