We recently dined at Las Picuas 123 Seafood Restaurant and had a mixed experience, but there were definitely some things worth noting. The atmosphere was open and inviting, with a laid-back vibe that made it a great spot to relax after a day of exploring. The kids especially enjoyed the swings, which added a fun touch to the setting.
We started with appetizers—Kan Kan Pork Chop Bites and Grouper Bites—both of which were very tasty and a great start to the meal. For the main courses, we ordered a variety of dishes including the seafood paella, snapper, lobster tail, ribeye, spicy crab-stuffed avocado, kid’s skirt steak, and kid’s chicken fingers. While most of the dishes were flavorful, we found the seafood paella to be a bit too salty for our taste, though the portion was huge. Speaking of portions, they were all quite generous, so diners should definitely consider sharing meals if you're not looking to overeat.
One issue we did encounter: after we had already started eating, the staff informed us they had run out of ribeye but had found one "upstairs." Unfortunately, the diner who had ordered it declined the offer, leaving him without the ribeye. I’m not sure if they provided any discount or compensation for this inconvenience.
The service was slower than expected, but the friendly staff and great atmosphere helped balance things out. Overall, if you're planning to visit, keep in mind that portions are large, and sharing meals is a great way to enjoy the variety without overeating. If you're in the mood for some tasty seafood and a relaxed environment, Las Picuas 123 is worth a visit—but be prepared for a slower...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant as a group of six and were profoundly disappointed with both the food quality and the service. Our orders were completely mishandled: my cowboy steak, requested medium well, arrived as a Churrasco steak cooked well done. A friend ordered a cowboy steak well done but received it rare, while another who ordered a Churrasco rare got it well done. The Churrasco steak was inedible, with the texture and density of rubber.
The pricing added insult to injury. I opted for an off-menu surf and turf, expecting a quality addition to my $35 cowboy steak. Shockingly, the bill for this with tiny, seemingly boiled shrimp was $75. The shrimp lacked grill marks and appeared undercooked.
Moreover, the disregard for dietary needs was alarming. Despite clearly communicating my wife’s dairy allergy, she suffered an allergic reaction, suggesting her meal was likely prepared with butter.
Additionally, my bottled Modelo was flat, warm, and had a rusty lid. When we questioned the exorbitant $40 charge for the shrimp, the server’s response was dismissive and rude, stating, “well, you didn’t ask me in the beginning.”
Overall, our experience was marred by poor service, subpar food quality, and a lack of attention to detail. We cannot recommend this restaurant and urge potential patrons to consider these factors before...
Read moreStay away! While vacationing in Puerto Rico and visiting family for 1 week, just this week, we were sorely displeased with this encounter. This place had THE WORST people providing service that I’ve ever encountered! Parking is a nightmare and the locals, who are completely intoxicated, had us feeling unsafe. We were totally ignored right after being seated. 6 waitresses and not one of them offered a glass of water to us. They were too busy mingling with the regulars to even notice that after 20 minutes of waiting we got up and left. What really got to me was the blatant bias of the staff; if your not a local your frowned upon! I was totally uncomfortable with the experience and WILL NEVER go back! We ended up going to the Kiosk’s 10 min down the way where we were not only taken as their last costumers but treated VERY WELL. If you’re staying in Rio Grande, especially in the Rio Mar Villas, travel towards The Kiosks for food and entertainment! No one should ever have to tolerate such profound prejudice while on vacation. This place doesn’t even deserve any stars, just on service alone; never mind the food! Glad I didn’t waste my money. The tourism bureau will DEFINITELY be notified of...
