Sharkey's Wing & Rib Joint — Restaurant in Radford City

I have only ordered take out food here. I have not dined in here or drank at the bar. I live their food it is always delicious and my order is always correct. When you pick up your order they will go over your order with you before paging to make sure everything is correct. I really enjoy this because it ensures your order is correct before getting home. I wish more places provided this simple courtesy. I love their wings and they have many different options. They also have good bbq and I have been satisfied with everything I have ordered thus far. My only wish for this place is they had a easier way to pick up take out orders. Currently I have to go inside to the bar to pick up my order. If the bar is busy which most nights it is I have to stand and continue to try and get the bartenders attention. Several waiters will walk past you and most all of them will never offer to help. Occasionally a waiter will ask if they can help you and when you tell them your here to pick up a call in order they simply tell you to talk to the bartender. But they do not help get the bartenders attention or even go behind the bar to tell the bartender you are they waiting. It's very frustrating and most of the time the bartender is to busy serving drinks to even see you. On several occasions I have wanted to order food from here but I decide not to because I don't feel like the hassle of trying to pick up my order. Now when the bartender does see me and come over they are very friendly and helpful and get my order right away. I don't understand why they couldn't have the call in orders at the hostess table at the entrance. If they had a better system for picking up take out orders I would order from there more frequently. I don't want to bash this place because it is a great place and to be fair I don't think their main focus is take out orders so I don't feel like that should way heavily on their overall review. Wow, maybe they just had an off night, but my son - an incoming Radford freshman - and I just had maybe the second worst food we've ever had at a restaurant. (Looking at you, @dirtybuffalo in Chesapeake!) The restaurant is one of the only buildings that is active on an otherwise mostly-abandoned Main Street. We walked in on a Monday evening and it was mostly full...good sign. They have a really solid tap - IPAs, wheats, lagers, sours, you name it. Reasonably priced, too - I got a 20oz Lost Coast Tangerine wheat for $6.50. And our waitress was GREAT...hence the 2 ⭐️. But the "Deluxe" nachos were a plate full of disappointment. The chips were greasy and fragile, the "cheese" seemed like the stuff that comes out of a dispenser at a high school concession stand, and the "homemade chili" was weirdly sweet and oddly Hormel-like. The guac was clearly out of a squeeze tube. [We only ordered the nachos because we wanted wings and we wanted them extra crispy - the menu indicated would (naturally) require extra time, and we were hungry after a 5 1/2 hour drive.] The wings arrived and they were definitely not crispy, much less "extra crispy." Pro tip: Do NOT try the "creamy parmesan" flavor - almost tasteless but oddly stomach-churning at the same time. And the "spicy bbq" sauce was just plain bbq sauce, and there was not much of it. We ate about 3 wings and a handful of chips each, boxed the bbq wings, left the creamy parm wings and 2/3 of the nachos, paid 75 bucks with 20% tip, and vowed to stick with BTs...

So my youngest daughter and I went here for dinner…a late dinner it was like 8:30pm and I was a little apprehensive being that it’s in Downtown Radford Va a couple blocks from Radford University…No Offense to Anyone but college students and college student hangouts are NOT my favorite..and Sharkys is definitely college student oriented…pool tables dart boards bars music etc…but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t overtaken by a huge crowd of students…and let me tell you I ordered the Hawaiian Burger and Sweet Potato Fries and my daughter had a Grilled Cheese and Sweet Potato Fries…it was SO GOOD 😊…the burger was to die for and their sweet potato fries are served with a sweet-like dipping sauce and O-M-G…they are absolutely DELICIOUS…just writing this review is making me want a Burger and Sweet Potato Fries from Sharkeys…Anyone close to or in Radford Va wanna go??? Haha 🤣 Seriously!! 😐 If you find yourself in Radford Va and you’re trying to decide where to eat…Let me decide for you…You’re going to Sharkeys!! You will NOT regret my decision for you!! Lol 😂 You will definitely leave there Fat & Happy 😃 even having to pay the bill won’t hurt…they do have good prices..So idk what you’re waiting for…Get your shoes on and Let’s go to Sharkeys!! Oh and i believe Monday nights are Buy a Burger Get One Free! 🥰. Who doesn’t like Free Food?!?!! Just a whole other reason to Go Eat at Sharkeys in...
