As I was driving down Wake Forest Rd on the way to Jasmine's I decided to deter on my original middle eastern food plan and try Simple Greek. Walking in, the place seems very "fast casual" and had a reasonable amount of diners for a new lunch spot in that location. It took me a minute to deconstruct the menu. This is not like Neomande's or Jasmine's where you can get a "platter" of different sides. Simple Greek has a bowl or wrap option and you can add addition sides on top of that. My bowl itself ended up being around 10$, which was great for the amount of stuff in it, but if I had wanted a side or had gotten a wrap the price would have jumped a bit. Overall my bowl was delicious, had what looked like fresh quality ingredients, and the chicken gyro meat was incredible. The only negative things were the acoustics, and the staff. The entire interior is made of things that reflect sound, and I kept having to yell what ingredients I wanted in my bowl, they need an acoustic consultant on their franchise interiors team. The staff is NEW. They are being trained, and some staff were more comfortable than others. No one asked me if I wanted my meal to go or not, and at the register they asked me if I wanted about 5 different side options (apparently I did NOT have enough food), asked if I wanted a drink (listed all options that were clearly in the case in front of me) and asked if I wanted to sign up for a rewards program with my phone number. It felt like a trashy up-sell that I was not expecting from a place with "Simple" in the name. Overall, I would come back. The food ended up being amazing (red peppers are SWEET though) and reasonably priced for a bowl, but will I switch from my main Mediterranean squeeze Jasmines? Probably not, but I'll be back when I'm...
Read moreWent in for the first time today. The guy who helped me was either mute, shy, or both but didn’t ask any questions and I was sort of left to figure out the Chipotle style ordering on my own.
Either way, I asked for a bowl with white rice, double gyro meat to start. Didn’t get any acknowledgment from the guy nor double meat so assumed he didn’t hear me or it’s not something they do. No big deal.
Next, the guy just kinda pointed to things so I didn’t really understand what I could and couldn’t add so just started having him add random things that looked good. Not a problem as it all looked fresh and delicious.
Went to check out. Guy didn’t tell me the total just stared at me and held his hand out. Considering I hadn’t heard a word from him at this point I just gave him my card assuming all would be fine. Well I was charged for the double meat but at this point it’s all bagged up and my card was already charged so guess chalk this up to a learning experience. The bowl was delicious but not worth the $13 dollars.
I might return but definitely will speak...
Read moreThe switch from Simple Greek to FRESKO Greek Kitchen has not brought about all good change to what I once considered a filling "go to" for a healthy and delicious Greek meal.
The facade has changed, luckily the flavor of the food has not, but less costs much more and the starters here are now posing as the entrees!
So, we do what we always do right? Stand in line, order the bowl, rice, chicken, lettuce, blah, blah, blah. Although this is not chipotle, we are expecting that endless supply of fresh ingredients we would always observe at a chipotle, right? Not the scraps at the bottom of the pan. The five green bean halves equate to a serving of green beans? This alone is hardly appealing and quite disappointing.
Something is missing, the potato wedges they have provided in the past, apparently that favorite starch has been taken out of the equation, no longer offered. So here I sit with a half empty bowl. A bit disappointed I scarf down my snack and leave. Manage your...
