Planet Fitness — Local services in Raleigh

Today I decided I would finally start a planet fitness membership after being a long time LifeTime fitness customer. I chose planet fitness because it was half of the price, although missing several amenities I received at Lifetime, I still went with planet fitness just to see if the low cost for the black card membership is actually worth it. Today was my first day off of my constant work schedule so I decided to just simply enjoy the massage beds that they have available for black card members. I dealt with an associate by the name of Robert at the front desk. I asked him how to work the machine because of course, I’m new to the gym. Robert sarcasticly asked me “Did you press the blue button yet, Let me get you to press that for me.” As if there are intructions in the massage room that tell you how to work them. (There aren’t) Anyway, after the second time of explaining to Robert that the bed still isn’t working for me, Robert did come back to the massage room and take the time to see what I was talking about, however; once he pressed the exact button I pressed to get the machine working, it “magically” began to work. I utilized the machine for a short 8 minutes when the time limit I set for the massage bed was clearly 15 minutes. I pressed the button that starts the machine up again (as I was advised) only for the machine to yet again, not work. It was clear after my 3rd to 4th try that the massage bed is clearly faulty and does not work. I bought this “Black Card Membership” with the thought that I would be able to come in and utilize the services I pay for, but that was simply not the case. I even had a very nasty heavy set white girl approach me (Not a planet fitness employee) Demanding me to get up from the machine (That I clearly had already made Robert aware that I would be using.), because she had already registered for it up at the front desk, instead of simply making Robert at the front desk aware (yet again) that the bed she would like to use, was already being occupied. This resulted in the woman over exaggerating and even falsifying a report about me to Robert. Robert had the audacity to confront me about this matter, when if he would have been an attentive Front Desk Host, he would have made note to never register an already occupied massage bed to another member in the first place. Poor attentiveness from the Front Desk team member Robert, and clearly not the best area in Raleigh to work out in since there must be an influx of entitled fabricators and small brains. None the less, I guess everyone gets what they wanted in the end, because after my first day experiencing planet fitness, I will gladly pay my 50 dollar cancelllation fee , and head right on back over to LIFETIME FITNESS. 0 stars. Train your team...

I have worked out at this gym a few times because it's close to my girlfriend's house. The gym is really clean I must admit and the equipment is in pretty good condition but my main issue The constant harassment from the employees about a mask. I myself as well as other members I've seen there will lower their mask to breathe or take a sip of water or Gatorade and the moment they do that here comes a planet fitness employee badgering them about keeping their mask up. From my own experience I had a planet fitness employee stand by the elliptical I was working out on. My face sweaty and my mask began to slip slightly. I put my head down to allow the sweat to drip on the floor and not the machine. I saw out of my peripheral vision someone standing there but I didn't pay it any mind because I thought it was another member waiting to use a machine. After about 3 or 4 minutes I was done with my workout and the moment I look up it was planet fitness employee standing there the whole time waiting for me to finish so she could tell me to pull my mask up and it hadn't slipped completely off my face just down my nose slightly. The other planet fitness' do the same thing. While I understand you're trying to enforce a rule let's be reasonable here. Do you really expect someone to workout with a mask on the entire time? People are going to drop the mask briefly even if it's just to breathe because exercising with a mask on is very unhealthy. You're just breathing in the same air you exhaled. If they are that paranoid about mask then shut the damn gyms down again. While planet fitness is the cheapest option for a gym I have been to other gyms that do enforce mask usually upon entry and exit of the facility and members just social distance while in the gym. That actually works and members wouldn't mind working out there. I noticed in my time at this location the regulars I usually see I don't see anymore and when I see them at the store or mall they say they canceled their membership because of the constant harassment about masks from employees and I'm about to follow...

We were new to the area as of September of 2023 from Virginia. Although I have been a member of planet fitness since 2015. But my membership has been the basic membership. My husband he's not really into fitness . Nonetheless I am. So I first tried the Knightdale location because we live on the Knightdale/Raleigh line. The equipment there seemed a bit dated. I was not feeling the crowd. Lots of unsupervised minors there. The population in the area has become so dense. So my husband suggested I upgrade my membership to black card. So I did and I decided to try out this location. Appearance is bright and seemed inviting. But staff members not so knowledgeable. The club manager unprofessional and nonchalant. I voiced my concern about an issue and I was brushed off. My husband is suggesting that I either go to another location. And if that fails he says to just seek out a more private fitness setting. But I'll try another location. I understand there are no perfect locations. But customer service, friendliness, and professionalism is a must at any establishment . Maybe it's the time and era we're in. But I cannot suggest this location to family, friends, or my neighborhood. But because fitness is a part of my daily life. These locations won't stop me . However this location is a thumbs...
