Jack's Seafood & Soul Food — Restaurant in Raleigh

This "hole in a wall" has great flounder, spaghetti, and rice and gravy. I have not ordered anything else so I'm not sure about the remaining items on the menu. I bought one piece of flounder and ate it in the parking lot. Sent my son back in to buy me 3 more pieces! They have fish dinners but I didn't want sides so the fish alone was good enough for me. I wish I lived closer. I would go back again today! I've been looking for good spaghetti and just could not find it...now I have!!!! But I think they only sell spaghetti on Tues. They have daily specials. You will not go wrong with this place!!! Don't go near closing... attitudes show up. They have 2 locations! UPDATE: about a week after my review on June 29, I went again. Decided to call in my order while I was driving. I wanted 2 pieces of fish and side of slaw. The lady taking the order suggested I get a fish sandwich. I asked her the difference. She said a fish sandwich is $6.98. I asked how much are 2 pieces of fish. She said $3.48 a piece.....I asked what was the difference besides a couple of cents. She just repeated the price of the sandwich. I asked if it came with slaw she stated no..... I thought I was missing something! I told her I did not understand the difference besides a couple of pennies. Next thing I knew someone different was on the phone. She never said hold on, let me get some help, nothing. The next lady, Chelsea, explained there wasn't much difference in price and apologized for the other lady saying it had been a long day.....it was only 11:30am and the restaurant was almost empty when I arrived. Chelsea did an excellent job in handling a bad situation created by her coworker. I plan to call the manager to inform him of this matter. This seems to be a great place to eat but customer service needs some work. My rating has dropped until better service is...

Last night, I really wanted fish and shrimp… so I remembered visited Jack’s Seafood & Soul Food awhile back. About a year ago, I received soul food; which was pretty good. However, this time the service wasn’t as I expected. We ordered Three Meat Combo, Two Meat Combo, and a kids plate with tilapia. I placed the order online around 7:00pm. I sent my friend to pick it is around 7.30pm. It takes 20 minutes to get on that side of town. My friend calls me because they weren’t aware of the order that I placed online. Well, I checked my account to make sure the money came out… which it did. They asked if we made the order for the New Bern Ave. location…I told him to tell the lady “yes.” Finally, they were able to retrieve the order. My friend stated that he waited and waited and watched 10 people place orders and walk out; while he was sitting waiting on our food. It was a little disappointing that people that came in after us were getting their food before us. I’m on the phone with him as he is getting irritated. The lady told him that the food was cooking. I’m thinking that we are getting fresh looking food, but the fish looked burnt and taste that way as well. The shrimp wasn’t that great. I’m so tired of patronizing restaurants to be disappointed in the quality of the food. I tried calling back, but couldn’t reach anyone. July 16 2024 I have just had the most wonderful experience at Jack's Seafood. I haven't been treating myself out to dinner for awhile now. Life has been tough.

[ I'm experiencing homelessness right now. I live in a homeless shelter ]. 💪🏾💜

But today! I decided to get up, get dressed and get out into the world 🌎. And I decided I wanted to go treat myself to some good ol' down home cooking... [Originally I'm from SC !) So Good Food and good service ALWAYS makes me feel Better. The service was good as I walked in. Nora was great . She helped me with my Google Pay🙏🏽.

BUT 👑Teddy The MANager Was Absolutely Awesome💥💥 !‼! He was so kind and pleasant and he even made sure I had a very comfortable place to sit and enjoy my Already wonderfully Delicious Meal 😋!! And when I spoke with him I did not share with him that I was homeless. But I thanked him for being so accommodating. And his response to me was. "Yes ma'am, no problem. Because you never know whose heart ❤ you are touching just by being kind !!" How did Teddy know that I needed that Hug 🤗 ?????? I even watched how he interacted with other customers and his compassion remained the same. A Stand Out Gentleman indeed. 🕴️ 👏. So to wrap this all up. I am grateful for my experience at Jack's today. If you're looking for a nice little downhome spot with Good Clean Delicious Southern Style Food. Jack's is your place. Thanks again Teddy....
