I used to love going to Jubala and visited a couple of times a week even though I don’t live nearby. Love the lattes, used to crave the milkshakes they no longer make, and the banana and peanut butter waffles are my favorite breakfast food ever. HOWEVER, recently my opinion has done a 180°turn. The lattes are all over the place. The hot ones are lukewarm, they’re either bland or cloyingly sweet. The last few waffles have been bricks with dry peanut butter mortar. The employees used to be engaging. What happened?? I could accept some of this IF the whole place wasn’t filled with singles with computers using every table for hours at a time. Even the bar is often taken up by people using two spaces for themselves and their computer. I watched a woman with a small child and a baby wander around for 10+ minutes hoping for someone to leave. My friend and I would have given up ours if we weren’t waiting for food and were dressed for sitting outside. Ultimately, she got her stuff to go and left. 🫤 I get not wanting to sit at home, in the library, or office for whatever they are doing BUT how about limit the space takers to an hour at a time or devote an area to computer users and give actual patrons an area to use as well. Starbucks got smart and realized their cafe’s were being overtaken by people conducting business and not spending money. Jubala needs to do the same. I’ve dropped to visiting maybe once a month but hate not being able to meet for coffee...
Read moreI don't normally write reviews but this place is such a great asset to the community it deserves the response. I was in town visiting from Boston for a couple days when I discovered this place. Downtown Boston has unique coffee shops but in the suburbs we are stuck with the typical chains. Oh how I wish Jubala was nearby. If you want real coffee of great quality that a barista takes time preparing, then Jubala is the place. The flat white was delicious prepared in a large "Notnormal" brand mug with of course latte art adorning the surface. The mug itself was so good I just ordered them for my house. They serve a small but incredible selection of food including an amazing stuffed waffle, breakfast sandwiches, and yogurt. I didn't try the lunch sandwiches. As I sat at a bar seat sipping my coffee I watched the time and care taken for the pour-over coffee selection.
This place is not Starbucks and it may take a little longer to get your order, and the all 20-somethings staff is clearly having a good time and laughing with each other as they go about their tasks. Don't be in a rush at Jubala. If needed you can pop in, grab a paper cup of drip coffee and hurry out, but I suggest sitting down and enjoying the ambiance with a great mug of coffee.
I'm back at home stuck with Starbucks and wishing Jubala wasn't...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite coffee shop I’ve ever been to in any state. It had just the best ambiance, the best coffee, best flavors, they had this wonderful small town gem feel. The customer service was phenomenal and everyone seemed very passionate about the coffee. It was just different from everything else. I went for the first time after their remodel and they took away that special feeling. I can only imagine someone bought them out because nothing was broken. They regularly had a line out the door but it just feels and looks like every other generic coffee shop. No more cute small town charm they don’t have the cute little erase boards or real ginger beer. They even changed their coffee. Counter culture is AMAZING and I expected their replacement to be equally as good but it was just bitter in a bad way. I Heart broken that my favorite spot is now just the new Raleigh Starbucks. No personality. I will say customer service was still exceptional but I only saw one man who appeared knowledgeable about the coffee. The good customer service is the only thing that led to two stars. If you want mediocre coffee with good mixers, and Starbucks feel tables it’s not a bad spot just don’t go if you were a regular who loves coffee and that extra wow factor because they...
