Really nice little coffee shop with horchata, sweets, and a variety of latinx baked goods. I've come here a few more times now, and I'm really happy to have a neighborhood coffeeshop nearby, but I do also have just a few small complaints.
First, the interior is pretty...spare. The contemporary minimalistic aesthetic just feels a bit too spartan and cold to me, as compared to the warm, vibrant, chaotic vibe of coffeeshops that have a lot of local art on the walls, host events, and have lots of little tables with lots of people sitting around and hanging out. The coldness is exaggerated by the fact that people mostly seem to pass through, and there often aren't many people hanging out here, if any.
This might have to do with my second complaint - the surrounding outdoor area. I love the diversity of the area and all the nice local, often immigrant-run businesses, but the shopping center is very suburban and car-oriented, and on two big car-oriented roads, so the outdoor area surrounding isn't very cozy and there isn't much people-watching. There's not much the owners of the business can do about this, though they could possibly work with other business owners in the shopping center and talk to the owners, but adding some outdoor seating right in front might help, maybe some potted plants.
Third, the sweets and baked goods are nice, but there isn't really anything in the way of filling or savory food. A sandwich or tacos or something...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I went today for the first time on my birthday. We got the churro sundae and the donut ice cream sandwich, which were so good, we ate it all. I felt the service was severely lacking. We waited a while on our order because the young women and men were mostly talking and laughing. There werenāt many people there, just us and one other family. Iām a Puerto Rican Muslim who speaks fluent Spanish, and I also dress modestly and wear a headscarf representing my religion. I tried to speak Spanish with the lady who took my order and she refused, only replying back to me in English. I also tried to tell her itās my birthday and she ignored me. We didnāt get a āhave a good dayā when leaving, but the family who was there before us did. Just feel like my husband and I were excited to go out and celebrate my day as Latino Muslims and this place took most of our joy. Sad that my own people discriminated against me. Not sure we would give it another try. Espero que puedas compensarme de...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was influenced to come here while visiting the Triangle area by one of my Instagram friends. I love Horchata and had to check it out.
We got a mazapan Horchata (a peanut based Mexican dessert) and a mini concha ice cream sandwich with Horchata ice cream and a dulce de leche drizzle.
Both were amazing. I'd never had a concha pastry before and I loved it. It was perfect for an ice cream sandwich. The Horchata ice cream was delicious.
It was also my first time having anything mazapan flavored (not the same as marzipan). The peanut flavor covered up the cinnamon in the Horchata a bit, but it was just as delicous.
This is an awesome, unique little dessert shop and I'm so glad we made it to...
