This Wendy's has changed, both in appearance and management. 20 years ago, this Wendy's was amazing. Everything was fast, perfect, and could always be counted on. I used to brag to others that it was the fastest drive thru on the planet as on several occasions they would have my order hanging out the window already as I drive around from ordering.
Now, when I returned to Raleigh, the restaurant had changed in appearance. I was saddened to find the time in the drive thru was about as long as any other place, but good things never last.
Over the past 6 months or so, the service has dropped to some of the worst in the area. The food is fine and the restaurant is fine, but the staff is definitely the worst in this area of town.
As others have pointed out the their reviews, the drive thru times have increased dramatically. I like Wendy's salads over the other fast food salads, so I keep coming back, which means I have a lot of experience with the drive thru situation. This isn't one or two occurrences, this happens around 80% of the time. I often look forward to my salad only to drive right past once I remember how long the wait is.
Mind you, the restaurant is as popular as any other fast food joint in the area, it's not like a huge rush hits and causes the wait. There could only be 4 cars in the drive thru and you can be sure that you are going to be told to wait.
You heard that right, they almost ALWAYS ask you to wait when you pull up. That's usually fine because sometimes it gets hectic inside fast food places, but not here. You will wait until they are ready to deal with you. This had been between 10 sec all the way to 7 min. I time it now because of how crazy long they make you wait just to order. I remember the worst time took a total time between arriving in the drive thru line to getting my food was around 35 min. There were only 6-7 cars.
Bottom line, the restaurant is physically nice and I like Wendy's food so they get 2 stars. Because of the staff, they lose 3.

Read moreUpdate: A few months ago I ate here again. I had lunch with a friend and we decided to try Wendy’s inside instead of using the drive-through. It was so dirty at the tables. And both of their self-serve ketchup containers were empty and needed replacing. It could be excusable if we arrived just after the busy noon lunch crowd, but we were there at 11am BEFORE the lunch rush.
Original: This is one of the remodeled/updated Wendy's locations. When they first re-opened the service was lightening fast and the food was good! 5 stars. For a while I really liked eating lunch there, but not anymore! Why? The drive-through service is ridiculously slow, like so bad I always see cars leave the line. Also, the drive-through customer service is consistently lacking and the service is poor.
For anyone interested in the long description of my most recent experience: I hadn't been to Wendy's in a long time, but I recently took a late lunch and decided to give them another try. I was only the third car in line to order and it still was over 15 minutes. I had to wait 5 minutes just at the ordering speaker before anyone even said a word to me. That's unacceptable to not even get on the speaker and say "Please wait a moment.". Then at the window I was given the wrong drink. Got the second, corrected drink and it was again the wrong drink. After I paid I checked my bag and didn't have all my food. When I said something (to a different worker) she refused to give it to me because she said I hadn't paid yet. We went back and forth because I knew I had paid (this Wendy's rarely hands over the receipt unless you ask for it), but she claimed the payment didn't go through for some reason. So I let her swipe my card again. Not surprisingly, I've since checked my bank account online and see two charges. I reached out to Wendy's customer service about a refund and many days later still have yet to hear back.

Read moreThe Wendy’s on western Blvd is horrible the manager Ignacio D’Aubigne refused to give me back a refund after waiting over 15 mins for my food . He stated he was irritated and could not stop from making burgers not my problem just wanted a refund because I was pressed for time had a senior leaving out for prom . Think he cared left me standing there looking stupid. Finally decided to call the cops still wouldn’t come give the refund after 20 mins of keep asking everyone why I can’t get a refund finally ms Hellen from the drive thru just took the money out her register and gave it to me but by the time she did that the officer had just pulled up and the other manager Maria had came in still couldn’t understand why this happened but thank you to ms Hellen and Andre the cashier you guys was very professional and handed the situation very well even tho the money could have been giving back to sooner should have not had to go that far to call a officer for money back. As long as that manager Ignacio D’Aubigne is there I will never step foot back in there horrible service specially from a Manager def worth the drive and time by going to another Wendy’s . Also Maria the other manager even tho you came in after it was all situated thank you for asking if I still wanted the food or anything and for being very apologetic for his behavior.
