We found this place on Yelp because we were looking for a good Peruvian restaurant in the area, base on the reviews we gave it a try. It's a small place, it seemed clean. We were greeted by the manager I would think, the place was empty on a Sat noon. We were going for the Lomo salteado, however, I said I didn't want it with the fries but was told by the waitress/cook that it wasn't an option and suggested I could just remove them from the plate. As we were trying to order she would suggest that we could share the plates because they were big and for us to try more options from the menu, which was fine to a certain point but still the way she was suggesting wasn't inviting at all. We had 2 kids so I asked for kids menu but she said they don't have one that she would give extra plates so we can share our food with them... at that point, it was still ok. Then my oldest son wanted to have some tallarines which come with all kind of veggies he doesn't eat, so we decided it to order "plain tallarines for the kids" just to make it easier it would be just the noodles with the chicken as we have done in other restaurants with no problem at all, to what she stated it wasn't possible because that's "not the way she cooks" that we could remove whatever we didn't like instead... at that point after all her comments and "suggestions" I didn't feel welcome and comfortable at all. I understand and respect some restaurants don't like modifying their menu or having substitutes but they usually have notes on their menu or at least a nice way of saying "no I'm sorry that's not possible" My review is based on customer service experience, we walked out because why would you eat in a place you don't feel comfortable plus is not like you are not paying for it! Customer service does make a difference wherever you go... so they had 8ppl walking out of the restaurant with a bad impression. The manager didn't even ask why we were living so I'm assuming they don't care abt...
Read moreWent there yesterday. Lucho and his wife still offer the homey hospitality. The food was scrumptious as ever. The lomo saltado and chicken saltado had that tastey smoke flavorand juicy The vegetables in it were cooked to perfection...so that they are able to absorb the seasoning and flavor and impart their tangy and savory contribution to the dish while also adding their complimentary of grilled textures. The tomatoes melt in your mouth while the red onions are cooked until softened. The fries are firm and crispy on the outside while the inside is fluffy. The rice was also super tasty. Nice and semi-sticky so it holds together .I do wish the papa a la huacaina sauce were to have a stronger kick from the aji...just enough to make one's lips tingle a bit and have a touch more onion and garlic flavor. But did enjoy the thickness and consistency. Maybe they went light on the seasoning on it to be more appealing for those who can't handle spicy and all you have to do is add a bit of the green sauce which WAS hotter than I expected. The place was very pristine clean and there was a good amount of seating. Food is made fresh, so do allow for a time to get your meal. Only wish I had room for desert. Would have loved to try their flan. Wonder if in the future I could order half portion? Just a thought. Call it orders on "the light side. " We had leftovers but fries don't reheat well but the noodles version would. Congrats to Lucho and his wife, Diana on such a charming place with mouthwatering food...not to be expected in the office looking view on the outside. Thanks. I'm...
Read moreI had never tried Peruvian food up to this point. First time we went, the owners were having some sort of small party/celebration with presumably friends and family. The music was playing, TV was on, and there was lots of laughter. The atmosphere was really amazing in this small resturant. The chef/owner saw us walk in and was immediately attentive and friendly, and took our order despite the gathering. We ordered our food to go. Wait was about 10 to 15 min, and everything was packaged nicely with care.
The food was delicious! The lomo saltado (seems to be very popular at this place) was fantastic and came with a big side potion of rice. My better half ordered the tallarin saltado, and we got an order of the platanos fritos to share. The tallarin saltado was also tasty and the plantains were sweet, mildly tart, and absolutely delicious. The plantains paired well with the savory/saltiness of the lomo saltado. At the end of our feast we both were stuffed with leftovers to spare.
Lucho's serves excellent comfort food and the owner is friendly and welcoming. The meals are priced high but you do get a lot for your money, so it is a fair value. Lucho's definitely has a hole in the wall aesthetic so don't expect a fancy dining experience if you eat in, but so often these are the kinds of places that serve delicious and fulfilling food, as is the case with Lucho's. We've been back three times thus far and each time the quality has been consistent and the meals taste great every time. Really though, we can't get enough of those...
