Of all many small pleasures in life one of my faves is a great sandwich. What makes a sandwich all the more enjoyable is when the service is quick/knowledgable/friendly, the atmosphere is casual/upbeat/clean, the prices are reasonable/wallet-friendly/cheap, the selection is ample/varied/deep, and the flavors are delicious/memorable/commendable.
Board & Brew delivers on every measure.
Though I've loved all six different sandwiches I tried, the one I keep returning to time and time again is their Perfect Pastrami - gourmandizing perfection it surely is. It's lavishly piled, mouthwatering moist, and more than I can eat in one sitting. I don't care where you live in OC, I guarantee you it's worth the drive.
Though it's a little thing, something else I love about Board & Brew is their self-serve beverage dispenser. Besides Pei Wei, I don't know of any restaurant that has one. I've not counted how many different flavors the dispenser offers, but it has to easily eclipse a couple dozen. Several of the brands I can only get at Board & Brew!
Were I to quibble, and from a purely personal POV, I do have to say that it's disappointing that Board & Brew does not offer any sort of Italian meat (capicola, Genoa salami, prosciutto). Nor do they offer a selection of non-filtered beers, which are my favorites.
However, the reason God created variety is for scenarios such as this and is thus why when I must have a great Hoagie, there's always Jersey Mikes! But if you're in the mood for Turkey, Beef, Tuna, Vegetarian or PASTRAMI, at great prices, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere, look no further than...
Read moreThe sandwiches are always packed with meat...they are very generous with portions so you are getting your money's worth. Beverages selection is excellent, even two different brewed tea options which is great for me and other tea connoisseurs. While they do have a lot of chip flavors it's exclusive to one brand which is not my favorite. I wish they'd bring back the voodoo chips and perhaps add a few other exclusive brands if that's the vibe they're going for.
Note to the cooks...stop burning the bread when toasting for a BLT or the French Dip. I've asked almost every time but they still burn the top of the roll. I stopped ordering the French Dip which is my favorite until they can get this right I'd like to see some additional bread choices added like rye. Ham on rye would be my choice. The sqauw bread is not a true squaw bread. The phone system is weird, sometimes it will ring several times and then disconnect. This hasn't happened in awhile so hopefully they finally fixed that I'm a picky eater so don't let the above comments sway you from eating here. You will not be disappointed with your sandwich as long as either you don't get it toasted or they fix...
Read moreI was in RSM for the day and was looking for a casual place for a sandwich and a beer. After first going to a nearby brew pub and being disappointed, I went to B&B and found the perfect spot! Great menu of reasonably priced hot and cold sandwiches, and more importantly many local and regional beers on tap. Happy hour pricing was 4 to $5 a pint. They have a great menu that shows everything they have on tap, how fresh it is, the ABV, IBU, etc. Really impressed with that board! Great patio seating outback and on the side gives us much privacy is you want or don't. Hot pastrami sandwich was pretty good. Meat, cheese, and condiments tasted fantastic, but were unfortunately let down a bit by some spongy and tasteless bread. Price was great though, and it wasn't a real big negative. Really happy I found this place! If you're looking for casual counter service in a good environment, with really friendly staff, this...
