Isaac's is one of our favorite restaurants. We were saddened when the one in Hummelstown closed as we had made friends with Odie and Sharon. Coming back from Manheim,we decided to go to Stauffers in Mt Joy. We spotted Isaac's and decided to stop in for lunch. Imagine our surprise when we asked who the Manager was and were told Odie but had just left! Anyway, we ordered my favorite.. Twisted Chicken on a Pretzel Roll with "plenty of tomatoes!" My partner had a Mallard on a Pretzel Roll. Both were exceptional and so was the service. It has the old style decor with plenty of color. There is outside dining with handicapped parking in the front. It is located at the other end of the shopping center. Odie, we will be back!

Ok, normally we have good sandwiches and typically get our favorites, but yesterday I tried something different (to go), the Black Heron. Roast beef on French bread. I was so disappointed that I called back to complain. It was a sloppily slapped-together, kid-sized sandwich for $10. I measured it. 4 inches. My chief complaint was the value. I felt cheated. Even the cup of tomato soup was tiny for what you pay. Luckily, I had a free coupon. Isaac's has been a favorite for us: good alternative to fast-food, a local company, nice waitstaff. Just need to work on their sandwich- value.

T ...is a great ambassador for this restaurant. She is more than a good food service performer, she is a guide to the enjoyment of your Issac's experience. My wife got a club (couldn't finish) and pesto tortilni salad. I got a buffalo chicken salad. All the food was pretty solid, not perfect but good at that price point. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. Good place, would come here again if in area again.

We waited 5 minutes to be seated, had one waitress offer us the pickle dish. And waited some more. Then a second waitress came and offered us the same pickle dish and this time returned with it. Finally the 2nd waitress took our drink order after about 10 minutes after our pickle dish was served. When she returned with the drink, she took our food order. Meanwhile we witnessed our first waitress seat, serve and cash out customers that came in after us. So that was not the tilling, also our 1st waitress never acknowledged us or apologized for never returning or handing us off to another waitress.

The food was mediocre. We ordered a Ruben and it was cold, it’s suppose to be a hot sandwich. We had to ask for knives to cut the sandwich because it was served on multi grain bread instead of rye and was rather large and flat. They did however get our order 100% correct. Also I ordered a starter of fried pickles with the house sauce for dipping. It’s Mayo, I was severed a cup of Mayo. It was not appetizing at all.

Our second waitress also seems to of been training because 2 ft behind her at all times was another women with a clipboard, it was awkward. They could have explain her presence to alleviate that.

I know that they are short staffed as it seem the three women, the 2 waitress and the one doing the shadowing also had been the one handler the prepping and hosting.

What should have been a quick lunch took far too long. My companion and I joked about how we should have just went to Rutters for our Rubens, as it would been far cheaper, hot and served much quicker with much better taste.

Unfortunately I don’t plan on returning, even a free sandwich offer wouldn’t get me...

My husband and I got take out from here on our way to the Zoo for Mothers Day. We understood it was busy and we were told it was a 25 minute wait for takeout. An hour later after we are about to request a refund our food ended up being ready. The kitchen staff complete ignored take out orders trying to catch up on dine in. When we got on the road and started eating, both of our orders were wrong. Can’t even request a refund because we paid in cash. This was my husbands first experience here and safe to say we will never go to another Issac’s ever again. If we would have been told they were really behind and unsure of how long it would be or told they were extremely short staffed we would have gladly went somewhere else. Way to starve a pregnant lady on her first Mother’s Day just to...
