So as you may know Rapid City, SD is starting to get quite a bit of Mexican places to dine at. This is good and a bad thing. Good because of all the choices you will have, bad because you really need to shine to be seen above the other competitors. Albertano's is located in a nice populated traffic area which is great. However, with so many other Mexican places to go to, it will be compared to each other. So you really need to stand out above the crowd. Albertano's has a pleasant enough atmosphere when you show up. The staff is friendly and the service is good. These are the main highlights here at Albertano's. The food which should be the most important part is hit or miss. Enchiladas are filled with Chicken or Beef getting you plenty to eat. The rice and beans are also done well. Where Albertano's drops the ball in my opinion are on their sauces and jalapeno bites. The sauces are watered down quite a bit. They are basically colored water and because they are so watered down they don't really add to the meal. Unfortunately they did this with the guacamole too which made it very underwhelming. Guac is supposed to be chunky in my opinion that adds texture to the meal as well as taste. I don't want to drink it! The jalapeno bites are bacon wrapped, but beware. They left the seeds in which makes for a very spicy taste which then makes anything else not taste because your mouth is on fire. The food is average and with so much other competition trying to lead the way, there is definitely improvement needed. Of course this depends on what you get and when you get it. Other things on the menu may be much more appealing. It is a good place but not great. Great location, good service, nice atmosphere. Worth one try then go back to the better places that deserve your hard earned cash!

Fantastic! We eat here all the time. Unfortunately, there is no mild salsa. Green salsa is often hot. Lately, it's been medium. The red salsa is really hot. The red table salsa is medium to hot as well. Pico de Gallo (no chili peppers) is mild, only is available for purchase. I get the Giant Burrito Supreme with shredded beef. It is generously loaded with their amazing shredded beef that has lots of bell peppers and onions in it. I do wish they put more rice & beans in that burrito, though. My wife gets the Tosada with shredded chicken. She likes that. Lots of traditional Mexican drink choices out of their fountain and bottles in the refrigerator case. Typical soft drinks out of their self-serve machine, too. Highly recommend.

No greeting by woman at register, seemed like she was in a rush to take a order and answer no questions. Giant burrito wasn't giant just a huge tortilla with some meat and scoopful of pica de Gallo and guacamole. Ordered beans and rice separately even though I wanted it inside the burrito. Second order was enchiladas with a tablespoon of beans and rice. Canned chicken was tough to eat through. Dining area is outdated, menu boards are too high to see and look at. Going towards restroom there's extra supplies just stacked up. Door slams shut once you walk in/out. Not interested in going again.

Extremely frustrating experience. We ordered online ahead of time (and paid in advance). We went inside to pick up our order but there was a huge line and no where to pick up online orders. So we decided to try the drive through and told them we had a pick-up order - we were told it was fine to pick up at the window and to pull forward. We found out after we waited in the drive thru for 15 minutes (now 30 minutes after order placed) the woman told us they just started cooking our order (clearly they weren't monitoring online orders). No apology from the staff, no accommodation for the mistake. We were told to go inside and wait for the order. We waited inside for another 15 minutes (now 45 minutes since we ordered) in line to talk with the cashier and she told us our food still wasn’t ready yet and instructed us to wait until she called our name. We waited another 15 minutes at a table right next to cashier (we had now waited for 1 hour in total since we placed the order online) and returned to the line to check on our order and the cashier then gave us two bags of food that had been sitting there for a while but she didn’t call our name. The food was good but our orders were not correct (our enchiladas and burrito had fajita veggies inside instead of beef). Very poorly run establishment with slow service and way too large of a menu to be successful over long term. Unfortunate since it was good food but we...

The closest we've found to authentic Mexican food lately, in this area. Their portions are incredible (definitely worth the $12 for a burrito. It's a beast!) The food tastes amazing and not overly spicy. The refried beans are a little more on the soupy side, but they're also less salty and have just a hint of that natural sweetness to it. If you don't like the canned stuff, I'd say to still give them a try. The wet chicken burrito is really good and basic, and the Wyoming breakfast burrito is really good (it comes with steak, but I like to substitute mine for sausage) and you can order breakfast all day! The only issues are that I wouldn't eat in the restaurant, ordering online can be a little inconsistent on what you're getting, and if you want to make any changes to something, be very specific. A lot of the time, they'll try to rush you through the order, and you don't really get to see what they're putting in the order to verify it's correct. Still, the amount of food for the price and the overall quality of the food, I definitely say 4...
