I recommend this location and I recommend the To-Go Guy / server extraordinaire, Alex. Be sure to tip him well.
Appetizer: I love Chilis. Chilis is our favorite go-to restaurant. It's good food, pretty cheap, and they have a great variety of options that I skim when ordering, while ultimately always ordering the same thing - chicken tex mex bowl with extra chipotle sauce and avocado! (I'm a millennial, of course I love extra avo.)
Main course: Tonight, we didn't feel like cooking and I had been across the street at the gym and was super hungry after an hour of squats and calve raising; So I texted my boyfriend and had the usual 5 minute back and forth conversation of "what do you want for dinner?," "I don't know, what do you want?," blah blah blah, etc. I decided on Chilis. I ordered online while cringing in a full split and stretching as the beefy man with his stringer was glancing over my shoulder probably cringing about my food choices (most likely because I was ordering food while at the gym) for my babe; he's a steak and potatoes kinda guy. Anyway, fast forward 30 minutes as I'm sitting on the bench waiting for our order, I can't help but overhear the conversations going on around. Am I nosy? Or just observant? The world will never know.
Alex, referred to as the To-Go Guy by some colleagues that I spoke to, was ahhhh-mazing. The poor dude was "thrown to the wolves," as the night grew busier than they had expected. He was on To-Go Guy duty while also serving nearby tables. While this seems like a job minuscule to those who haven't worked in the food industry (including myself), I praise this man! He was keeping track of orders, receipts, constant calling out for help by customers and coworkers, all the while trying to perfect my order that their cook messed up. No biggie, I wasn't in a rush. I was watching the Heisman trophy awarding.
Except, one server stood out to me. She seemed to have been working there for a while as she was well versed in serving etiquette. (But definitely not eyebrow makeup etiquette. If you're reading this girly, watch some Jaclyn Hill or Bretman Rocks makeup tutorials.) Maybe she was having a bad night, I don't know. But if your attitude can't improve, your eyebrows can! I digress with the recommendation, to each their own with makeup. Anyway, she was being pretty bossy to my dude Alex, here. He had his own list of work to keep track of and she kept calling out his tiny mistakes. That is not teamwork - teamwork is the two, young bus-boys there singing along to Can't Feel My Face while cleaning their table that this ill-fated family with a crying baby would eventually occupy.
Dessert: In all, my experience tonight was interesting and quite uplifting! Alex maintained a great and positive attitude the entire evening that I spent there and I'm sure he will be treating himself to some well deserved Jack and coke, tonight.
TLDR; Positive and attractive to-go guy Alex. Grumpy bad eyebrow server lady. Happy customer! Good job on Chilis for putting the handsome and positive employee on greeter/to-go duty. Attraction definitely sells. He very quickly fixed my order with fresh waffles (not for me because chicken and waffles is weird) before I exited the flooded eatery. I should have tipped him more.. Ask for Alex,...
Read moreOne of my our favorite places in Sioux. Falls. The one in Rapid needs some improvement. We hope this helps, because we liked the food and appreciate the staff and not trying to be negative, but a few things were wrong. We called to check on wait time, we're told no wait, come on in. We come in, we're told 5 minute wait, was actually 25 minutes. During this initial wait time i tried to order drinks at the bar and couldnt see a bartender for 10 minutes, and noticed other customers at the bar with empty drinks shaking their heads. Hostess seemed lost and calling out many names for folks who weren't there. Overall restaurant was not clean, many tables unused weren't getting bussed, adding to wait time unnecessarily. Wait for initial greeting for 10 minutes. Ordered drinks, took another 10 minutes. Order food, I got the Sanfa Fe burger, main reason I got it is because the guac in the photo looked delicious, when it was delivered, I was told they are out or guac, wasn't offered any alternative option nor told upon ordering. Food was dropped off without silverware, and we had to shout for it as she walked away because we didnt want to wait another 15 minutes. Food tasted fine. From start to finish the whole experience was 90 minutes long and we knew what we wanted right away. While leaving, we noticed another table waiting to eat chatting about how they needed silverware. I also had a bad experience a few months ago, when I placed togo order, and when I got there they told me they were out of what I wanted and had to order something else, even though they took my order over the phone initially and didn't tell me. When I reordered I had to wait 45 minutes and wasn't offered any drink, any discount, not even an apology. We will go back, but we're going to wait a while and hope management makes some improvements. without any changes then the old days of chilis are gone and it's basically now fast food mind as well just have a service counter like Qdoba because it's not about dining or service anymore. Hopefully it's only temporary and...
Read moreTo start, we’ve eaten here previously on a dine in basis in which was a good experience, As for the delivery service of the restaurant, the delivery driver was absolutely fantastic and a super helpful and great person. The restaurant side of delivery was something that should be reconsidered for any adult!! The chili was beyond severely overcooked, way over spicy and the portions of all the food was more so like it was meant for a small child. The salad was fresh which was a plus, but we did NOT get any salad dressing as we had ordered, when we called to advise the restaurant we were told to call DoorDash which was our delivery service (FANTASTIC SERVICE) and ask them to return to the restaurant, get our dressing and return to us so we could try and enjoy the salad. We did so, we absolutely made it well worth the drivers superb service for going way out of her way, above and beyond and definitely way more than what should ever be expected for anyone in that position should do. An amazing experience with DoorDash and I certainly would have tipped her a $100 bill if she would have excepted it, but she would not !! But I absolutely insisted she please take the extra tip that was secondary offered. As for the $55 + meal, NOT a chance in hell will I ever order from this restaurant again in my lifetime. And please don’t get me started on the management that we talked to! NO PEOPLE SKILLS AT ALL. That’s elementary school stuff he should have learned. Good luck to anyone who orders delivery! AGAIN, Delivery Service (DoorDash was...
