I’m never going back to that bakery again.
I can’t believe the experience I had. I follow a carnivore and keto diet, so when I decide to treat myself, I want it to be worth it. This time, I chose Randazzo. Honestly, I’ve been there before and never walked away impressed but this visit sealed the deal. One visit is all it takes to earn a solid “F.”
I ordered the cheesecake with the rainbow cookie topping, and it was stale. You could tell it was old, like they were just trying to get rid of inventory rather than serve something fresh. That alone was disappointing, but unfortunately, it didn’t stop there.
I also picked up a lobster tail pastry. Again—stale. The outer shell was hard, the filling tasted off, and the whole thing had clearly been sitting around too long. I even tried a berry tart, hoping for redemption. No luck. The flavor was flat, and the cannoli cream? Bland and forgettable.
Honestly, I would have had a better experience at Wegmans. At least there, I can count on baked goods being fresh and having a more balanced flavor profile.
To top it all off, I ended up getting sick. Literally puking. It’s shocking that a bakery would risk its reputation like this just to avoid throwing away old goods. If your product isn’t fresh, don’t sell it. Period. There are apps where you can donate aging food. Use them. But don’t serve stale pastries at full price it’s cheap and disrespectful to your customers.

Read moreI was just told off by the owner over the phone, apparently he found me to have a bad attitude because I was trying to follow up on a cake request?
I'm absolutly flabbergasted by his behavior. Perhaps he was tired after a very long day or perhaps he really needed a break, but he could have easily asked me to call back at a later time, or tomorrow.
I just wanted to know if someone could get back to me but he told me I sounded very sarcastic and was giving him a lot of trouble for a ten person cake so he, the owner, can't help me. Then he hung up on me.
I'm disappointed he felt that way. I told him I was just very surprised he only takes cake orders the old fashioned way in person (apparently he took great offense to this phrasing, which I did apologize for) and not via email requests which is certainly quicker and can be more accurate in this day an age, especially for just a quote on pricing, yes? I was told I was given an email "as a favor, they were trying to help me out" and everyone else comes in person, only, to order a cake. I'd love to know from others who have ordered if this is true?
His bakery has been there a long time and I know many people love the desserts made there but after the way he treated me over the phone I will not be going back or reccomend his bakery to anyone.
I'm very sorry this ever...
Read moreI travel 45 minutes to get to the Famous Randazzo's and it's worth the trip every single time. I absolutely adore this place and have since I was a kid.
First and foremost, let's talk about those heroes. The sandwich Gods from the Italian heavens above have shined their savory lights upon the smorgasbord that is packed into Randazzo's heroes. Even the most basic sandwiches (chicken parmigiana, Italian hoagie, Eggplant parmigiana, etc) are so above and beyond your average hero. While I usually enjoy a classic Chicken Parm hero, today I went with Chicken Marsala with fresh mozzarella. To say it was a good choice is an understatement. The Marsala sauce was great - it was neither too overpowering nor runny. The consistency was perfect and there was a generous amount of mushrooms with the chicken. I may have found a new favorite.
If you're not a hero person, you're not only bizarre, but also lucky enough that Randazzo's has an amazing deli selection: antipasto, rice balls, meat balls, penne alla vodka, lasagna, all that jazz. In my 21 years, I've tried pretty much everything from their deli and I can confidently say that I've never been disappointed.
For your sweet tooth, take a look at their baked goods. Tons of delicious cookie choices. Cannoli cheesecake....
