As You Like It — Restaurant in Raritan

I am not a big ice cream luv’r. Especially in my older dog years since I am now the size of a small townhouse. But, every so often, I treat myself. This past Friday was my b-day, so on our way home from dinner (no desert), I said let’s stop by that place in Raritan on main street (As You Like It). Oh my dog, what a great place that I have been missing out on, for years now (I live in Branchburg). I had a classic (large) hot fudge sundae with nuts – it reminded me of my yut at Dairy Queen on Union Ave in Bound Brook. Nice a big, lots of hot fudge and whipped cream, and I had some really rich chocolate flavor that I forgot what it was now (see note above about being in my older dog years) . . . it was wonderful. The staff was really nice too – I had an older gentleman who took care of me/very pleasant. They had a line, on a cool Friday night mid-May, that stretched outside their establishment, but the 3 persons working kept it moving, so the wait was not bad at all. It also is very clean and a great value for the cost. I think the older gentlemen said they have been around for like 40 years or something. Well that certainly says something about the place! Full disclosure – being from Branchburg, I think most of the town favors another establishment close to us, on 22 east – however, as per Google My Business maps, this place is ½ the distance/closer! Well, I’m ‘sold’! This is now my go-to place for ice cream when I want to treat myself . . . BTW, my wife who frequents ice cream joints much more than me, also was very impressed and is ‘sold’ on As You Like It also. Check it out if you are local or driving through Raritan – you won’t go...

I brought my 2 daughters and their friend here for an ice-cream treat. The young lady behind the counter serving us was so rude. She had zero tolerance for us, rolled her eyes the whole entire time and slammed the ice cream refrigerators as she served each child. Her attitude was so disgusting that I wasn’t sure whether it was related to lack of tolerance to people who does not look like her or something else. Her customer service was pretty horrible. I don’t know who trained her but she need to understand that great customer services go hand in hand with selling great product. I certainly won’t be back if this is what I have to look forward to. I would be ashamed to have someone with her demeanor work for me. Totally...

I was in the store at the same time “mom” was last night... I just saw her review, as I was coming to write mine. Firstly the employee was nice enough to offer a mask and “mom” said “I don’t have to wear one i’m not wearing one” and walked out. None of the employees touched their masks or face. They were completely right to not serve her for not wearing a mask. If people don’t wear a mask, don’t serve them, it’s the law. I felt extremely unsafe inside the store with people without masks on. Thank you for the employee who offered her a mask or no service. I knew As You Like It was the best around. I came on here to thank you guys for not allowing people to come in without masks....
