A Must-Visit Gem Near Lake Sebago!

While visiting family near Lake Sebago from Florida, we were lucky enough to stumble upon the Village Donut Shop—and it instantly became one of the highlights of our trip! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warmest smiles and the most welcoming atmosphere. It feels less like a shop and more like visiting friends who just happen to make incredible baked goods.

The scones are out of this world—perfectly baked, not too sweet, with just the right amount of crumble. The turnovers are flaky, fruity, and absolutely addictive. And of course, you can’t go to a place called Village Donut Shop without trying a donut—and wow, they’re some of the best we’ve ever had! Every single item we tried was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

You can tell this place is loved by locals, and now we understand why. It’s not just about the food (though that’s reason enough to go)—it’s the people, the charm, and the feeling that you’ve found something special.

We’ll absolutely be back every time we’re in town....

Seems like a slightly overhyped place to me but I’m not a local so I don’t have the emotional attachment to it. I tried the chocolate sugared donut (which was a little bit too crunchy for my taste) and a strawberry scone which was delicious! My mom got the cinnamon twist which was very dry and my sister got the pistachio muffin (which really resembles the Hannaford muffins 😅) and a cream cheese scone (which she said she loved). As a bakery associate of Hannaford I can tell you the chocolate and almond croissants are frozen. They are identical to the ones we sell. It’s a shame to mark yourself as a bakery but to sell these frozen things. Stick to what you can make homemade and just make larger quantities instead of the over abundance of variety!

My favorite place to eat in Raymond! Excellent service (treat you like family), great atmosphere, good prices, super yummy pastries. Their buttercream is the best I've ever had!!! Best whoopies I've ever had, puts Wicked Whoopies to shame. They even make mini whoopies, which are the perfect party treat! Their puff pastries with the fruit filling and buttercream are amazing!! I ordered a bunch for my wedding and they were perfect!! The scones are really yummy! There is a reason the locals often stop by early, the best things can go quick.
