Bunratty Tavern — Restaurant in Reading

Friendly service,but dull atmosphere and disappointing food. We ordered 3 different meals: Chicken Tenders ,Dublin Bay Fish & Chips and Traditional Corned Beef Dinner.Unfortunatelly, Chicken tenders and fish and chips meals were terrible, tasted and looked burnt. Corned beef came out fine, but my wife and daughter ended up leaving hungry after spending $60+ in there. I took tenders home with us after being persuaded by waitress as she saw our plates being returned almost untouched. I told her we weren't planning on eating it as it was burnt, but decided to take it anyways for our dog. Even dog wasn't interested and that says it all. We will not be coming back.

Response to owner: It was my wife's Birthday on Tuesday 23rd at around 7pm ( you were not there by your statement).Waitress did come shortly after giving us meals to see if it was ok at which point I said it was fine as I was already eating my meal (corned beef). My wife and teenage daughter were on a video call with her family wishing her Happy Birthday so they didn't start eating their meals until a little while later, but when they did they didn't like them as tasted burnt. I was already done with mine and we are not really people who return meals and complain so they did try to eat at least a little bit, but we ended up leaving with plates nearly full. It was our first visit to your restaurant and we came based on your reviews online as we do tend to see reviews before we pick a new place to visit. As a fellow service industry worker, I have never seen nor experienced worse service that I did here. At 8:30pm on a Saturday, a friend and I walked in for a drink to the bar after a long day of work to be treated like a major inconvenience, and then the bartender (blonde, heavy set women who was in a rush to get cut) proceeded to inform us that the manage/owner did not want to serve us. We sat next to a heavily intoxicated/induced man and both just came from work and were sober.

We then asked for some sort of clarification/ justification as to why we were refused service, and were told that person was "on the phone" and wouldn't be able to talk to us.

My impression.... the bartender was in a rush to leave at 830pm on a Saturday and did not want to serve anyone else.

What a terrible way to run a business, and as a guest looking to dine and support the local businesses I and my fellow restaurant industry friends will no longer come or advise people to go there.

With guest service like we experienced tonight this place should NOT be in the HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY.

Wait staff needs help or maybe just an attitude adjustment!. Came in at 2 pm for a late lunch, it was not busy. There was nobody at the door to seat us so we walked in ourselves. When she did see us she told us to go ahead and seat ourselves. She came to the table for our drink order and announced that she was sorry she didn’t see us she was by herself and she was having a bad day. Ultimately we ordered and despite telling her that our part of six was 3 separate tabs at the time check she told us she could only split the bill in 2. She said her manager said so. We asked to speak to her (as she had previously alluded to another gal behind the bar) then said he just left. Overall the food was good. She did give the table a pitcher of water she only ended up giving us 1 check back. One of our party asked for a non spicy sauce but they didn’t change menu choice on sandwich as requested.
