This little gem is a lucky find for anyone seeking a delicious breakfast or lunch that is above and beyond the usual. You'll ring the bell when you leave...
HOW IT'S DIFFERENT: Most breakfast/lunch places know their patrons have become used to long wait times, old and worn out places to sit, coffee served in big mugs that cool within ten minutes, average ingredients, and the usual skimping of very expensive sides (how many of us order a side of bacon for $6 and get two strips?). Half & Half is different.
WAIT TIMES & STAFF: H&H is consistently packed, yet somehow keeps the flow of patrons moving without a rush. You'll be greeted by warm smiling faces eager and proud to offer you the most pleasant dining experience. Everyone works together and helps each other.
COFFEE: The coffee cups are slightly smaller than the big heavy mugs we see in most places. The intent is to keep your coffee hot by refilling more frequently. My coffee did not get cold once.
FOOD SELECTION: Menus are unique, both in physical durability and in variety of food. There's a refreshing upscale feel based on ingredients, but the hometown menu keeps it comfortable.
MEALS & COST: Quality, freshness, and appeal demonstrates "the Half & Half way," which continues throughout the meal: portions feel generous but not wasteful and the live omelette bar enables you to pick and choose whatever you'd like with the omelette (they do not charge extra for what you put into the omelette). Prices are reasonable and respectful of the patrons.
ADD'L DETAILS: Our table was very clean, including the syrup dispenser. The variety of jams and jellies were fantastic: they even had apple jelly at the table. The butter packs were included with the jelly and weee immediately spreadable for the toast.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: As a serious step up from the typical high-volume breakfast place, the owners clearly care about the whole experience of their patrons, and the name of the game for them is quality while keeping prices in a...
Read moreWe were traveling on vacation and had to try this restaurant because their 5 rating (at the time) with 400+ reviews was proof they were doing something right. During our visit, I witnessed a master class in customer service. The owner and staff recognized regulars and automatically put in their orders. When they recognized newbies, (like us) the owner visited the table and walked through the menu making recommendations based on our tastes. I saw him do this with three other tables while we were there. Given his recommendation, I ordered the corned beef hash and a side of bacon. My wife had the fruit crepe. The chef brought out the food and personally thanked us. I noticed the chef delivering the food to multiple tables while we were there--a very nice touch. And speaking of the food--it was delicious! At one point, I dropped my napkin and before I could lean down and pick up the one I had dropped, one of the staff brought me a new napkin and took mine away. My coffee cup was never below half-full. The experience and customer service was phenomenal. After the meal, we waited to talk to the owner (Isaac) again before leaving. I wanted to thank him given the wow factor and experience they had given us. If we lived in the area, we would absolutely be regulars! What a wonderful human with an amazing positive and friendly attitude that has infected the whole team at the restaurant. If you are in the area, I can't recommend this place enough! And if you become a regular, they will put your picture (with your permission) on the wall as recognition--and presumably to help new employees recognize the regulars. If your experience was as good as ours, make sure and let them know by ringing the bell on...
Read moreI arrived about 1 hour before closing on a Saturday. It was not busy. I asked if I could sit at the bar. Coffee was offered quickly and staff was very polite . I asked if I could still order breakfast and order a lunch item to go. Service & quality ended there. Fried egg yokes cooked, toast arrived after meal ( asked twice for it) and repeatedly asked for coffee refill. I found out at end of meal my small orange juice ( very small & not on menu ) was $8. Take away entree lunch was child size portion . Burnt avocado toast , oil drenched over cooked flank steak and spinach drowning in oil. I called restaurant after looking over take out at home. I was offered a full refund as I had no time to pick up new meal . The quality, size and items drowning in oil did not give any hope of a second order being appetizing. I was told the manager would call Sunday with refund as man on phone was not authorized. No phone call. I had wanted to try a new place, Half & Half and support local businesses. I showed my Mom the meal during our lunchtime visit together. My Mom is very flexible at 88 years old and a fabulous cook. Mom said the chef did not know how to cook steak or spinach! Thank you Mom for the honest second review of Half and Half. I am still waiting on my promised refund for meal #1Flank steak salad, avocado toast and side of spinach. meal # 2. Eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, toast ,...
