Although the food and our server were excellent my overall first impression of Mimmo’s is just okay. My mother in law wanted to come here for Mother’s Day so I went ahead and made a reservation. They didn’t advertise a limited menu for Mother’s Day so we were upset they didn’t have anything we actually wanted to order. We wanted the crab and artichoke dip to start and it wasn’t on the menu. We wanted the Chicken Toscana, my teenage nephew and niece had a hard time picking out meals because we also came to order pizzas which were not offered! My mother in law ordered the stuffed shrimp scampi and she said it came out cold after it took a long time for our food to come out. By the time her food was remade our table was done eating- and she was the one we were celebrating!! Our reservation was at 2:30p and when we arrived no one was in the foyer to greet us. From there the server was great but the food service was slow. I understand it was Mother’s Day and expected to be busy but we waited so long for a limited pasta menu- just to have one of our meals come out cold. At 2:30p it seemed like a Friday night would be more chaotic as it didnt seem too chaotic in the afternoon, just filled with people all waiting for food. It seemed as though they were ill prepared for Mother’s Day. I’m disappointed there wasn’t a manager that came around to greet tables. I’m also upset they didnt comp my MILs meal since she did t get to enjoy. I thought the food was good once it finally came out but I would just rather go to like a chain restaurant such as Texas Roadhouse or even Buca di Beppo - they know how to pump out the food quick, provide service on busy holidays and it’s always consistent and good. I’m sorry mom and pop restaurant, we tried you for Mother’s Day and it just wasn’t a great 1st impression for me. I’d love to come back for a lunch on the patio with less pressure to please my mother in law! The drink I had was delicious and I’m still curious to...
Read moreVery good food in a nicely renovated restaurant. Years ago I remember Mimmo's and was pleasantly surprised at how the expansive new grounds make a good dining experience. The chicken masala was garlicky and delicious. The plate was large and filling and plenty of fresh mushrooms onboard. Garden salad was good with the addition of fresh mozzarella and light croutons added to it. Starting with the calamari as an appetizer, sauce was good, a bit acidy but fared well with the ocean dwelling rings. The calamari consisted of only rings and no tentacles, for those that may need that information, and was cooked well and not rubbery. Although I prefer a bit more crunch to my breading, the taste and consistency made up for that. 2 large chicken portions smothered in masala with pasta hidden underneath presented well and tasted very good. Accompanied with lite rolls and butter, the rolls had an almost croissant consistency which was a pleasant surprise. I also sampled their ravioli which was served with shrimp, chicken, red peppers and artichoke. They were cooked well and not overdone, the sauce was creamy and satisfying. The booths are large and accommodating as well as a friendly staff. There is a take out pizzeria side that I did not try on this visit. Grounds were clean and staffed well. Waitress was accommodating and asked how the meal was and if we needed anything else several times. Menu is large and a full bar with specials available. Family friendly with lots of room and a banquet room in the back. I will admit the music that was playing wasn't overly loud but I could hear a somewhat dreary cluster of old Christmas tunes. Normally I tune most of that out but the selection was relatively dreary for the time I was there. Great food, good service in an easy to get around, nice looking...
Read moreJust had my husband's work Christmas party here, and can't say enough how much we enjoyed it. The atmosphere was beautifully candlelit, but not too dark, with Christmas music subtly playing in the background. There was even a little light display out on the beautiful paved patio that we could view from our table...nice touch! The service was EXCEPTIONAL. Every few minutes someone was stopping at our table to see if we needed anything, either from the bar or clearing dishes. More importantly, they wanted to be sure we were enjoying our food, and just having a nice time. The bartender made an excellent wine selection for me when I couldn't decide, and even had me sample it first. The food was excellent. I wish I had taken pictures of the beautiful display of appetizers: from calamari with warm marinara, marinated mozzarella and other assorted meats ( including my favorite, prosciutto), cheeses and fruit, and olives, to bruschetta. There was a salad course, but I had to skip it to for there to be any chance of room for dinner and dessert. The main course was just as good: chicken parmesan, homemade bolognese with pasta, penne a la vodka, sausage and peppers, garlic green beans and homemade buttery mashed potatoes. For dessert there was an amazing selection of small bite desserts, which I thought was a fantastic idea. This way, you could try bites of all different things without wasting entire pieces. There were, of course, cannolis, chocolate cheesecake, plain cheesecake, mini cream puffs and eclairs, along with a ton more. We really enjoyed ourselves and will continue to come to this beautiful restaurant. Thank you for the...
