Strong 's brick oven is located in Reading right on Reading road, just a little bit south of Evendale. It's very easy to access from 75 North. I have driven by it a million times and never really noticed it. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But inside, it is a fabulous authentic Italian restaurant. It is a surprisingly large Italian restaurant with lots of booths and tables and a wood burning brick oven in the middle of the place. The pizza chefs are working in the middle of the restaurant and putting pizzas in the oven. There's also a very large, nicely stocked bar with local beer on tap from Esoteric and Rhinegeist. The whole restaurant is very clean, warm, and cozy, with authentic Italian decor. Lots of tables and booths with red leather bench seating, chairs, and stained glass overhead lights. The food was delicious. The pizzas were straight out of the oven with thick, warm crusts and lots of toppings. The antipasto salad was very good with fresh lettuce and thinly sliced deli meats and nice crusty Italian bread. The meatball appetizer was more than enough for a entree - with three large delicious meatballs and sweet tomato sauce. The waitresses were very attentive, capable, and friendly. The only disconcerting thing was that the waitresses brought the fresh food straight out from under the archway marked "restrooms." But it turns out they were coming from the main kitchen which is down that same hallway, opposite the actual restrooms. Aside from that little misunderstanding, this was a great casual Italian dining experience. So if you're looking for a larosa's alternative, with a very similar but more authentic Italian vibe, and one with a brick oven pizza in the middle of the room and a very nicely appointed bar that you can sit at, check out this place in Reading.

I was hanging out with my two youngest sons and some of their college friends. I was looking to take them out to a pizza joint that was nearby the University of Cincinnati (UC) campus but not too close because I wanted to avoid traffic and large crowds. I googled and googled and I noticed that Strongs Brick Oven Pizzeria kept coming up. I decided to take a chance. I am a sucker for Brick oven pizza. Its good stuff and its difficult to mess up. We arrived to a very welcoming atmosphere in Reading, Ohio. We found easy parking and no crowds. I noticed there was a bar there as well. The wait staff were awesome and very helpful. The food was delicious. That vodka sauce pizza was just amazing. Their Margherita is top choice. Their meat pizza was thick and layered. When I got the bill (I was paying for 1 teenage boy and 4 college men and they ate), it was very inexpensive. I expected to pay more. I need to bring the wife with me the next time we go. Also I want to hang out at their bar.

The pizza was average, I would have liked more sauce as it was basically cheesey bread with toppings. We got a kids pepperoni pizza with extra toppings, which cost an extra $1.25. there were 6 or 7 pepperoni's on the pizza. We got carryout so it's not like we could complain and have it fixed without having to drive back. The crust had the right amount of char, but that was about all it had going for it. Edit: Instead of apologizing along the lines of "Yeah 6 pieces of pepperoni is unacceptable, especially when you paid for extra, is unacceptable. Sorry that happened." You defend 6 pieces a normal for extra toppings because it's a kids pizza. How many normally come 2? 3? Did you even look at the picture? It looks like you dropped some pepperoni on a cheese pizza. We won't be back.

9/9/24 - 5 STAR SERVICE: I recently had an issue with my order, where a large meat pizza was missing from my delivery. Initially, I was quite frustrated with the situation and lack of assistance when I called and went to the store to pick up the missing pizza. However, after leaving a review, I was contacted by the owner, Amanda, and I must say, her response was exceptional. She reached out first thing Monday morning, and took full responsibility for the oversight. She informed me that they had addressed the issues with their staff and provided a refund, which was a generous gesture. Despite the initial hiccup, the food was delicious and the proactive steps taken by the owner have restored my faith in their commitment to customer satisfaction. I appreciate their efforts to make things right and will be open to giving Strong’s another chance in the future.

9/8/24 - 1 STAR: I placed an $83 order for delivery on 9/6/24. I paid $6.99 delivery fee and $8 tip just to have to drive down to the store myself at 8:30PM because they forgot to send the large meat pizza. I called and was told that I could come pick it up or receive a credit - considering this was the main entree, we sort of needed it. I think that offering redelivery would have been more suitable. Anyway, I get to the store and all of the employees are just standing there on their phones. I was not acknowledged. I spoke up an employee who looked up from his phone (to hand another lady who came up after me a menu) and told him I was there to pick up a pizza that they had not sent with my delivery order, and he went back to looking at his phone. Another bar employee came up and asked the woman who had been handed the menu what he could get for her, and luckily she explained that I had been there first. At the same time, a woman (assuming the mgr) is yelling from the heater “Is there an Ashley here?” - Yeah, I had been there for 10 minutes without being helped. She handed me the pizza and was sending me on my way, walking another direction. I asked the male employee standing at the bar if I were to receive any other compensation, as I spent $15 to have a pizza delivered that I had to come pickup myself. At that point, the woman turned around and said “What do you want?” I explained I had just driven down here to pick up a pizza that they forgot to send with my delivery. Again, she said “So what do you want?” Well, offering some sort of credit for the future would have been expected… That’s just customer service. I shouldn’t have to tell an employee, let alone a manager, how to right their wrong. She then looked at me and with an attitude said “Okay you want a credit? I’ll give you a credit. The next time you call just tell them you have a credit for a large anything you want.” She was moving on to the next thing and I walked out at that point. She did not take my name or number for a credit, so I don’t know how I’m supposed to claim it, but I have no desire to go back after the terrible customer service that I received on this...

I have always loved eating in and carrying out of strongs. With that said I had the worst experience of my entire life at any restaurant anywhere tonight at the reading Ohio location. We ordered 3 pizzas and wings. I was told 30 minute wait time at the time of my order. We arrived a few minutes early expecting to wait. At 35 minutes the pizzas were all ready. That was great. I would almost always expect a slightly longer delay on a busy night. Now for the wings. We waited, waited and waited. I asked the lady who took my money and she explained the cooks didn’t drop the wings when she asked them to. 10 minutes later I asked the bartender (grey haired 60ish man) about the order since we were waiting at the bar. I asked him simply how long wings generally took to cook. Without knowing what order he was talking about or why the delay he took a defensive stance and only said they were busy and it is what it is. He rudely passed me to the manager who happened to walk up. She didn’t ask what we needed or what the problem was. She had only one message. She was aggressive, angry and rude for no reason. She said give me your receipt I’m giving you your money back to get you out of here. She then said you can go to dominos. I didn’t want my money back. I just wanted my wings along with the 3 pizzas which had been ready for 30 minutes. She didn’t say let me check into this, she just walked off. She came back with the wings, handed them to someone else and told that person to give us the wings and “get us out of her restaurant”. I wasn’t rude to a single employee and was treated with the worst attitude I have ever witnessed at a restaurant by the grey haired male bartender and the manager. I will never go back to this restaurant and will tell everyone I know how rude the management was to deal with. I believe the managers name was Andi. They clearly...
