I recently visited Trooper Thorns for the first time and had a mixed experience that I would like to share. The staff were incredibly friendly. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel comfortable throughout my visit.
However, I encountered an issue with the quality in the Chatty Monks Endoplasmic Reticulum that I ordered. Unfortunately, it had several large flakes of film settled at the bottom from the draft lines, indicating that they were not properly cleaned. I was disappointed with this oversight, as it affected my enjoyment of the drink. However, I must commend the staff for their response when I brought this to their attention. The bartender promptly apologized and offered to pour me a Lagunitas IPA free of charge. Her willingness to rectify the situation demonstrated her commitment to customer satisfaction.
One aspect that could be improved is the accuracy of the bar's operating hours as listed on Google. According to the website, the bar is stated to be open until 2:00 a.m. However, during my visit, I was told that last call was typically between 12:00 and 1:00 a.m. on weekends. It would be helpful if the bar could update their online information to reflect their actual operating hours, as this could avoid potential confusion for customers.
Despite the issue with the beer and the inconsistency in operating hours, I still see potential in this bar. The friendly staff and their effort to resolve the problem left a positive impression on me. I have read many good reviews about the food and am looking forward to trying it in the future when the kitchen is open. I am willing to update my review based on my experience...
Read moreMet family there for dinner and our waitress clearly “ was in the weeds”. Ordered an appetizer, salads, and our main courses. Appetizer arrived but she apparently never put in the order for the salads because the mains came out next. She absolutely never checked in to see how we were enjoying our food. After some time we ordered a creme brûlée cheesecake and when the gal brought it (not our server) it appeared to be a New York cheesecake. I just questioned it to make sure we got what we ordered. So next the waitress brought another piece of cheesecake that was a fraction of the size of the first one . When I questioned that she ( the original server ... we had several gals coming and going because the server was just too busy for us)went off on me saying how when something is returned to the kitchen a whole new thing has to be served and they individually cut each serving in the kitchen and was completely argumentative with us. Totally unprofessional and I will never be back. And by the way...when one goes out for dinner one would expect to leave the establishment feeling happy, Satisfied, and ready for the weekend. Instead I left troopers feeling anxious, annoyed, and just ready to go home. Never will...
Read moreThere are very few bars or pubs in the area that are able to provide this kind of unique, quality environment. Trooper Thorn's beer and liquor selection compliments that so well and competently that you forget how they're a "Triple Threat" with killer traditional Irish dishes and infusions, to boot. This place is perfect for those seeking to embrace the Pub Life, experience some amazing drinks, or enjoy the delicious culinary offerings that aren't really available anywhere else. I came to Trooper Thorn's for all 3 categories and left impressed: a Huge, Delicious Scotch Egg with garnish was $8, a 12.oz bottle of Innis & Gunn Scottish Ale came out to around $8 and a neat Power's Irish Whiskey double only set me back $12.50. Highly...
