Very very disappointed with Ikkyu Japanese Restaurant! I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 3 years. Friend of the restaurant's owner, Momo. It used to have a five-star rating from me. Now I have downgraded to one star. Truthfully, there should be no star. Today, May 18th 2022, Went into the restaurant to order a takeout. I've ordered two unagi's nigiri, one crips dragon roll, $35.. As I was waiting for my order. Momo serve me very nicely flavored hot tea. About 15 minutes later my order comes. I paid, thanked Momo and left. I only live about 5 minutes from the restaurant. Returned into my house, sat down, opened my takeout order. To my disappointing surprise. Everything I've ordered, cold. Not warm not hot. Cold, like it been sitting around for 2 hours cold. I've immediately called Ikkyu, and talk to Momo. I was telling her how cold the sushi were. Momo tells me, you just left you the restaurant, how's is the the order? I've responded, yeah I did. But the meal is cold. She apologized. Tells me that she no longer owns the restaurant and is out of her hand. Ive asked Momo to have my money back. She tells me, it's out of her hand, because she no longer owns the restaurant. Read moreUpdate 1/10/25 Yay my fave item is back on the menu. Like every other place, the prices have gone up. The portion seemed much smaller. I used to eat half of my dinner and save some for the next night. Not anymore, I ate the whole dinner and was still hungry. But I know things have gone up everywhere. It seems like others have not adjusted the price up and the portion down. So not a place I can afford to frequent like I would like to. I really like this place. My go to item on the menu is Chicken Teriyaki and Tempura Veggies. The teriyaki sauce is perfectly flavored and has a nice consistency. The rice is always perfect and I am not a salad eater but I do enjoy the salad that comes with the meal here. Service is very friendly at the location. However sometimes when I call in they just answer with "Hello" and I think that maybe I called the wrong number somehow. I would leave 5* for the food but the portions have gotten smaller. I realize everything has gone up in cost but I used to be able to stop eating it and have enough left over for lunch the next day. Even if you reduce the main course, perhaps add a little extra rice. I had a gift certificate given to me 2 months ago and they would not honor it! New owner absolutely refused! MoMo old owner is the one that issued gift certificate with NO expiration date on it and she was there working with new owner but THE NEW OWNER still refused to take gift certificate. The reason I received the gift certificate was because I told all my clients at work how much I loved Ikkyu. The business sign is the same and MoMo was there working so I had no clue it changed owners until I tried to use the gift certificate. The menu was different with a lot of my favorites gone so was wondering what was going on when I ordered and then the food was not as good as my last visit.
