There are plenty of wonderful, heart-felt reviews describing Groundingās warm dĆ©cor, meticulously sourced ingredients, the sourdough pancakes, and of course the bean obsessed owners. I knew Iād found something special when I overheard the owner helping a friend ādial inā his home machine for a newly available roast (converting Fahrenheit to Celsius on their phones to accommodate the dissimilar machines). Hey, donāt laugh, this is serious business! Just today he and I were discussing an amazing dark-maple syrup that he had recently sourced that has, apparently, forever changed his experience of maple! Itās the pure joy and curiosity found in the smallest of details that exemplifies the vision of Grounding.
More importantly, Grounding has been so much more to my wife and I than the description above. You see, we had recently relocated to this area from the Southern Plains to be closer to our children and grandchildren, walking away from established jobs and friends of many years as a result. We bought a house pretty much sight unseen and not knowing a soul within an hour drive. Now, as one does when rolling into a new town, we started searching for the best local coffee place. We struck gold at our second stop. The owner/operators have now become very dear friends. Weāve met so many new faces, names and interesting individuals there in such a very short period of time.
The owners have created a very unique and special place, to be sure. Grounding never feels rushed or impersonal. Itās evident that they push back, hard, on any temptation to cut corners, or follow the established practices of so many other popular chains. If youāre looking for a fast-paced, drive-thru, Frappa-foamy-drizzled-with sprinkles experience, well, Grounding isnāt that. Itās so much more! Itās a place to read, relax, recover, recharge; a place for music, art, games, discussion, contemplation, and if I may be so bold, healing. Grounding, without exaggeration, has played a huge role in our positive transition to PA. It wouldnāt have been the same experience without them. I canāt thank...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile upon arriving, the outside appearance is deceiving. It is absolutely gorgeous on the inside. It captures a wonderful urban asthetic that has a calming effect as you enjoy your order, especially if you decide to come in the morning.
Their coffee options are the star of the show and will not disappoint you, especially if you enjoy "authentic coffee." What I mean by this is that their coffee isn't oversaturated with syrups and sweeteners, but if you prefer that, you should probably head to Starbucks. The coffee here (in my opinion) is more robust and refined in comparison to the usual flavored latte's.
When it comes to their food options, I have tried everything on their menu, and nothing disappointed me at all.
Their acai is not frozen and made fresh with fruit, granola, and cinnamon (ask to add honey and peanut butter powder).
The grilled cheese has a nice sharp cheese flavor to it with spices on the bread. (Try asking them to add spinach and cayenne for a little kick!)
The kale chips (while you may get a small portion) are flaky, salty, and delicious and pair well with the grilled cheese.
Overnight Oats is another on their menu you can't go wrong with if you like oatmeal. It's nice, light, and chilled with a light drizzle molasses and maple syrup with fruit.
Their grilled chickpeas are very flavorful but without being overwhelming in an almost "mild" sense but not entirely.
The Pit-za (peet-za) is perfect for a light something for breakfast. The bread is light, and the cheese, tomato, and spinach used on it are delicious. It was like having a "healthy" pizza, haha.
Sourdough pancakes here, though, smelled so good and have such a satisfying fluffiness to them. Pancake lovers unite. You will be in for a treat upon ordering these.
An honorable mention of their food is the biscotti's they have. They are slightly tough but mild-flavored and tasty at the same time. It's a perfect pair with a cup of coffee.
