As someone who lived in the area I’m probably biased because “Outta’ The Way” is Derwood’s “Regal Beagle!” This little independent neighborhood bar has flourished while so many chain restaurants, stores, banks, and other businesses in the area have come and gone! They’ve proudly supported local musicians for decades. They’ve somehow managed to strike the perfect balance of being a traditional restaurant while also being ahead of their time. They had a big craft beer selection before craft beer was “a thing!“ They were also proudly recycling years before any other businesses were doing so and decades before it was the in thing to do. Their classic American bar fare from burgers, to wings, to salads with French fries on top have been the core of their menu for years. They always find a way to make these staple foods uniquely theirs! They have a great lively bar where people of all different backgrounds come together to watch sports or just chat with each other. OTWC isn’t just a restaurant or bar, it’s a lively part of the local community! The servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and owners are really the secret sauce to making it remain so special after all these years! They are so friendly and always treat their customers like their friends! Whether you live in or around the area or want to make the trip to see great live music in an intimate setting, go visit this super-fun neighborhood joint! Recommend dishes: Swirlin’ Wings, Burgers, Steak Salad, the grilled chicken sandwich (with barbecue, bacon, and cheddar!), and those amazing house made onion rings! Keep on keepin’ on...

This is another Place I Love In Derwood , Maryland. This is Outta The way Cafe . This place is Unique and One of a Kind Restaurant . Its In back of a shopping center in the area . It has a Huge Parking are in back . with a few shops next to it . Once Inside its newly renovated with all new hardwood to look like old Style cabin Like feel . This place on the inside has a Huge Dining area . Has a Stage for Live Local Entertainment . It has a full bar in another room and it has 14 HGTV's to look at sports and more . It has a somewhat open kitchen where the magic happens to prepare your foods you order . I Love the Redland Steak and Cheese Subs and The Burgers that they have and the Wraps . I Love The Huge Cheese Fries dishes and The Hershey Bar Pie they are famous for as well . They have a great menu to look at for the things you like to eat and all . They have local Live bands Like Crimestoppers band , Sandra dean Band and Audio Fuel and more that play there Fridays and Saturdays . This place has the best family atmosphere you'll ever find . So If You Love this place as I do This place is for you. So come On down and support this place . We all look forward to seeing you all there really soon for eating Fun and family times and more . See Y'all...

Have you ever decided to check out a restaurant or Bar without taking someone with you? I have and I've been going back on a regular basis for ten years! I could bore you with a rave review and ramble on about how good the food is but the bottom line is this; Everyone that I have met (and I have met everyone) are the example of what it means to be a Professional, working in the Restaurant and Bar industry. No other neighborhood place comes close! Diner's are warmly treated and it's easy to see why it's not uncommon to learn that many staffers have been around for 15 or 20 years. For a casual dining experience or a visit to the bar for happy hour and appetizer specials, I can't imagine a better place to visit. Adult enough for a Cold beer or cocktail on the bar side, yet family friendly, with plenty of options for dinner, drinks and live entertainment in the dining area. Don't miss out because the Outta the way Cafe is the kind of place that keeps you coming...

This food was delivered, so that may skew how it tasted, but overall I did not love the food that I ate. I had the pierogis and the grilled Texarkana chicken salad and both left me feeling a little queasy. I didn’t take a picture of the salad, but the menu promised a big portion and the salad was not that big. The chicken was very dry and flavorless, the salad itself was very plain, and the dressing was watery and not flavorful. Everything felt kind of wilted The pierogis were okay - I had never had pierogis before, and I’m sure they would’ve tasted better had they been fresh, but they were a little soggy and tough. The menu was huge and pretty kooky, so I may have to go back in person and try the food when it comes out fresh. Based on other reviews this place seems pretty hit or miss so I’ll have to give it another try before I solidify my opinion on it.

Great spot for awesome burgers, wings, onion rings, and salad. We went on a Saturday night, to have a bite to eat (the burgers are 3/4 pound and cooked to order, with multiple toppings). The great part of the dinner was the live music ( every Saturday and more - check their calendar or call). We saw the digits, featuring Jeff Blakeman. Excellent show, not a typical cover band - they did three sets. Expect to wait for a table on Friday and Saturday nights, but the bar is well stocked and the bar staff also serve food and have take out. It is a friendly place with good food and beverages.

We love going to Outta the Way Cafe. Great service, a large variety of food, and a home town atmosphere. I enjoy the ham and cheese club sandwich. It normally comes with American cheese but they will substitute that for cheddar if you ask. The island applesauce is to die for. It is chunky applesauce with cinnamon sugar in it. Kind of like pie filling. They have a good kids menu with lots of offerings for $6 and each includes a kids drink.
